My recent lens spree wasn't an attempt to cover up my lack of experience, I just want to be sure I have the equipment capable of capturing the shots I want. Not that I have the skill to capture the shots I want, but it would be a shame to be further burdened by inappropriate gear.

Yeah, yeah. I learned enough to use vi before I researched anything else. As soon as I read that it was the one editor guaranteed to be on any *nix system, I knew I needed to know the basics on it. But then I started looking for an editor that made more sense. :p

After looking at quite a few, I think I've settled on nano. WYSIWYG with Control-key functionality, and it is included with the server and workstation variants of Ubuntu.
