Suggest a decent 19" LCD monitor

I do feel that widescreens are less useful for most computer applications, but my real hate is for screens whose vertical resolution is less than 1024. This buries the OK button on dialogs, and breaks quite a few apps.

I think they are underestimating the DHS' ability to screw things up. One of the reasons high-speed rail is faster than planes under 1k miles is the faster boarding process. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 hour security lines before a high-speed train. :(

Still screwing with it. Ideally, I'd love VirtualDub to handle it, but I can't find the right settings/filters. I tried Quicktime Pro 7, and while it has the correct output, it doesn't like my XviD input. I even tried using VDub to output AVI and Quicktime Pro 7 to convert that, but the result...

Damn that is cool. The questions are: 1. How much does it cost per mile of track? 2. How much does each train cost? 3. How many people fit on each train? 4. How many routes are mid/near-term profitable? I suspect the answer to #4 is "none" in the US.

Actually JTR, my next concern is something we have already talked about. Boredom. Driving at 75mph (10 over - the average speed on the road), is so incredibly boring. When I drive as I like, 100% of my attention is on the road. I know exactly where every car is and what they are likely to do...

That isn't the problem for me, getting the files from my MicroSD card to the PC isn't hard, it's converting to/from whatever video file they are using that is the issue. Any suggestions there?

That was already the plan. They were doubly nice in that they made it a simple infraction as opposed to a Misdemeanor (an option at that speed). Further, since it is my first ticket in 7 years, I am eligible for traffic school! ;)

Suggest a decent 19" LCD monitor

Samsung is still my LCD manufacturer of choice, since their original 191T. Looks like the current "good" one is the 940T. If you don't need DVI, the 940N is their low end. I don't recommend widescreen for computers, they are less useful for everything but movies.

They claim to have gotten me at 116, but the ticket itself is for 98. Darn nice of them, really. In everything there is a risk, and a benefit. The people who succeed are the ones who do the math, not just avoid every risk regardless.

Well, that apparently went really well. Ended up with a Buick Something, when I started it had 4 miles, when I was done it had 94. E-Brake was off, but the brakes themselves smelled really bad. It's amazing how much some easy things (being tall) are worth compared to some difficult things...

USB soundcard with COAX SPDIF output?

That's what I'm looking for. I picked up a Turtle Beach AudioAdvantage Micro today, but it only does optical (TosLink). On closer inspection, it seems all the products in this space do 1/8" analog and optical digital. Help?

Where I grew up, there were trailer parks a plenty. Lots and lots of poor women looking to get knocked-up so they wouldn't have to be baggers at Safeway or deliver pizzas anymore. Every night they would get dressed-up and try to "bag a good one" at the local pubs. I know. I befriended a couple...

The size of the body on the 20D is really nice. I have large hands (an octave and 2-3 keys) and my hands wrap around it quite nicely. Mainly it's just the length of the lens that is intimidating.

When I think telephoto, large is expected. Focal lengths over 100mm usually mean you subject is some distance away. Focal lengths of 10mm typically mean your subject is really close, so a small lens is more important.
