Antec Sonata III $69 USD shipped $40 M.I.R.

The Sonata (I) was a great case, but now that I have P180s and 900s to play with, it seems like old tech.

Is the concept of virtual memory obsolete?

I didn't mean in a memory way, I meant in a general usability sort of way. Drivers and application compatibility specifically. Not to derail too much, but do you know how Photoshop plays with larger amounts of RAM? Can it use it? Could performance improve with 8GB of RAM and a 6GB image?

    Woops: another different SLR thread

I was actually waiting for the bird to begin to fly away. I was approaching, with auto focus dialed in and sports mode set, waiting for the moment when he flew away. But he didn't. I had to stop for fear of kicking him. Then I took a picture and walked away, sad that it wouldn't play my game. Pout.

    FairTax

While I can appreciate the concept of eliminating the IRS, and agree that the current system is irreparably broken, I think an income tax is still preferable to a consumption tax. Didn't we have a discussion of a flat tax a couple years ago? The problem with consumption taxes are that the rich...

    Wireless (wifi) Security Cameras

I think there are other things you could do that would give you more benefit. How is the lighting around your front yard? Do your cars cast a shadow behind them? Are there lights in the yard/walk that shine from multiple directions? Are there bushes that could help obscure someone? How hidden do...

    Wireless (wifi) Security Cameras

I'll probably end up getting something like this. Keep in mind that the FPS capability of the card is for all channels combined, and at either 320x240 or 640x480, and that some have hardware compression and some need software. If you have the spare horsepower in your server, you could save some...

    Wireless (wifi) Security Cameras

Here is the thread where I asked for suggestions. The larger systems I put in were turn-key, server with DVD-R and all the bells and whistles. My research is being very inconclusive, lots of manufacturers I haven't heard of making products that look identical sold by vendors I haven't heard of.

    Wireless (wifi) Security Cameras

Wifi cameras tend to not work well in groups, they have their own webserver and operate independently. If you want multiple cameras, you might do better with non-IP cameras being captured live at the server. This way you can sync multiple cameras and have better awareness of what is going on...

    Flying squirrels

For some time my sister had a few sugar gliders and a cat as pets. At first I was concerned, but those little suckers could so easily evade the cats that they eventually gave up. The sugar gliders were so light that they would fly across the room, land on your shoulder, and you wouldn't notice...

Is the concept of virtual memory obsolete?

I'm at 4GB because I use 32-bit Windows. 64-bit Windows is a special kind of hell; Vista is much better than XP, but it's still a minefield.

Suggest a decent 19" LCD monitor

It does vary constantly, and since I'm using it as a monitor, I'm so close that I affect it as well. When I had the OSD showing that it was changing all the time it drove me crazy. Fortunately, I disabled the notification and it has fine enough settings that I don't notice all the changes.
