Awesome. My clients have been really quiet, I haven't billed more than a few hours in the last couple weeks. It's starting to be a bit scary.

    Christmas Lights

Sounds like a blast, Tony. I woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny day and was inspired to head out into the hills and take some pictures. As soon as I got to my car I noticed it's battery is completely dead, I haven't driven it in 5 days! Certainly the longest without driving it in years...

Like in your car? You have a Subaru Outback, no? Easy to sleep in the back of that. I used to have an air mattress that fit the back of my car perfectly with the rear seats down. Still 6in too short, but better than just about anything outdoors.

Gig-E speeds for wired network behind old router

I was under the impression that a NIC either sends jumbo frames or it doesn't. If jumbo frames are enabled on the NIC, then everything it talks to has to be able to handle them. If your router can't handle jumbo frames, then that traffic won't get out. I believe this is why jumbo frames are...

Gig-E speeds for wired network behind old router

I have been told that using both network ports on a computer by bridging them allows one side to run jumbo frames and the other side to not. If this is the case, and you only have the two devices to run GbE, you could just connect a crossover cable between the second GbE port on the server and...

Gig-E speeds for wired network behind old router

Based on my research (ie - not guaranteed to be accurate) Get a basic GbE switch, connect it to your router, connect your GbE devices to the switch. This still won't utilize "Jumbo Frames", but it will be faster (at least mine was) between GbE devices. In order to use jumbo frames, you need...

Last night at 7PM I realized I had forgotten one of Olga's gifts. Fortunately, it was available about 100 meters away and the store was open until 8PM. Now I get to wrap it silently while she is asleep. Wrapping silently doesn't sound like fun.

Last year we went to my grandmothers house for Christmas. Unfortunatly, I failed to book a hotel room in time and we ended up sleeping on the floor in the living room. That wasn't so bad; but my cousin (6) coming in and waking me up at 3, 5 and 6AM asking if it was 'time' yet was a little brutal.

New PC for my brother-best MB/processor combo?

Those memory numbers are about what I would expect. Comparing a new on-board solution with an older video card that was designed as the low-end to begin with, is a good indicator of how poor on-board really is.

No doubt. Every fuel costs an amount in energy to get the energy out of the fuel. Best case is probably coal where all we need to do is dig it up, ship it to a coal plant, and build the coal plant. Worst case is probably uranium, that has to be found, dug out, refined, and nuke plants are (used...

That would be my point. This is a great breakthrough, but no-one will let you have a reactor of any size without an army to defend it. The only way to make an army cost-effective is to have a large reactor. I think a hydrogen economy is where it's at. It's clean and easy to produce; all you...

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

I read the headline for that piece: "Bush signs bill boosting fuel standards" and thought, "cool!". Then I read it is only to 35mpg and only after 2022 and doesn't include SUVs and Trucks. That practically doesn't matter. If American car companies only aim that high, they will be put out of...
