I have. Other than voltage/timing stuff, I can't find anything. There is no setting for "reserve" or "memory mapping" that I can find. The fact that it sees the memory and refuses to use it has me puzzled. memtest86+ sees all the memory as well. So does CPU-Z in Win7.

I've had this issue when I had too many USB devices on a port as well. After digging, it said something about me drawing too much power or having exceeded the reserved bandwidth. Do you happen to have a USB hub involved?

I do it to check for bottlenecks on the system. If it passes a smell test, it's fine with me.

I did shoot quite a bit with limited DOF, but the client didn't pick any of them. Oh well.

None of those were double-exposures. I shot four sets of pictures, one without flash exposed for the average between the background and the subject, one without flash exposed for the subject, one with flash diffused for the immediate background, and (the one she picked) one with flash pointed...

I'll second Tannin and Handruin on Lightroom. Had it on my machine for about two weeks. I'm finding IrfanView/Adobe Bridge/CS4/PTGui/Photomatix to be my workflow now.

I suspect that since you used to have the OS on the RAID array, you still have some boot files there. 7 can look at your Vista install and know this. That is why it needs to see the RAID array before it will install. This is also why I don't do upgrades or dual-boot systems without isolated...

It is just awfully complex. IIRC, I've only got it to work once.

I didn't drill any holes, just ran everything along the back of the motherboard. The P-182 had some gaps in the motherboard tray and tie-down points on the back for this purpose. The P-183 is better yet. That system does have a pair of drives in one of these (awesome, BTW) stuck in the 3.5"...

I don't use the holes they provide at all. I think I'd describe building in a P-18x as difficult, but it makes real cleanliness possible. Most cases can't look like this.

On its way. We'll see how good a VMWare server it makes with 12GB of RAM. Going to 24GB is too pricey at the moment.

The $900 includes a redundant, high-powered PSU and all the hot-swap bays. Besides, after you add in the 16 2TB drives ($4k), 16-port RAID card ($1k), and the rest ($1k), $900 doesn't seem so bad (14%). It is only "too many eggs" if you don't have another basket. Just get two of them ;)

I have one of these, and I like it.

I've found the best way to handle larger numbers of drives is to get any case you like and one of these. Or get SSDs and electrical-tape them together.

Ah. I route those bits behind the motherboard to wherever they go, then they pop out. Same with that corner, the SATA drops behind the motherboard immediately on it's way to the lower chamber (if you use a right-angle cable, you see nothing) and the power/reset/etc slack gets sucked up under the...
