I think the warning is that it is from Tom's Hardware. Their research and reporting has not always followed scientific standards in the past.

    Fast build on the bench

I'm fairly certain that voltage and clock speed scale with load, but for a certain voltage and clock speed, I suspect it is just a resistive load.

America is too big to fail, and that is a bad thing.

    America is ungovernable

I'm of the opinion that it really matters very little either way in a brass-on-the-Titanic sort of way. Sure fundamental human rights are a good thing, and the Democrats are better at that. A responsible fiscal policy is also a good thing, and the Dems have shown more sense here as well...

    America is ungovernable

The article sounds about right. It seems that the politicians have no greater fear than re-election; even if they are in control of a bankrupt nation. You'd think that the trillions immediately added to the debt once we lose our credit rating would be enough to get it off the table; any cuts or...

What has me pissed off at Oracle/Primavera today? How about buying a $1500 program, and then being stuck during the install until finding on page 4 of a PDF offered separately on a download gateway page the following: The program prompts for a serial number. Nowhere during the e-delivery or...

Quite so. But it would be fatal at even 10,000 RPM, so why bother worrying about it.

Indeed. Once they get the thing to spin at 60,000 RPM it should be much lighter ;)

That is very cool. I'd assume it is far more effective than typical IS lenses? From the website: "For photographic work in low light levels, exposures to 1 second can be used (hand held)." For $2k, it'd better be.

We'll see how happy I am when they show up. When I was shopping around, I was doing so without price being a consideration. Only after I had the top three sorted did I look at price. The only one above the DWs was the Pirelli P-Zero for double the price, so I think I did OK ;)

    RAW support in Windows 7

Well, I was using Adobe Bridge, but it does not making copying/moving files very easy. And if all you are doing is glancing into a folder to see what is in there, having to launch any program is more work than it should be.

The size isn't particularly relevant; there is plenty of unused space in the world. The cost to build, the cost to maintain, and the amount of power it generates are the important figures, IMHO.

Not saying that it isn't bullshit, but all the numbers are massively theoretical until one is built. My intuition is that power output will be massively nonlinear with regard to size, due to the many metrics that scale in a complimentary fashion.
