Mercutio: ATI's software is pretty sucky. Not totally awful, but pretty bad, don't you think? Minimal install solves that, but I'm not sure customers would be jazzed. That said, the drivers can also suck. Guy telling me my 700XL didn't work, becuase it froze with the windows 64 bit drivers...

Well, the 700XL with 256 mb of vram is pretty impressive. Combined with the 3000+, it flys. Gives my dual Xeons and the 800XL a run for the money. I kind of wonder if for 250, it isn't the value card, overall.

I'm getting to the point where I remove the Internet Explorer Icons from the desktop, and the launch menus, and replace them with Firefox. I will say Firefox is better then it's been, and so far, all of my favorite sites work fine with it, and, I've even been able to download the plug-ins, and...

Haven't figured it all out right now, but, running with an ATI 700XL, it seems to run games as fast, or faster, then the ATI 800XL, on the Xeon dual 2.8ghz. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VIDEO CARD. It must be ATI's drivers for Windows 64 bit that aren't compatible with the Nvidia 3 chipset. Guess...

Thanks. Up and running. So far, looks ok. Apparently the lit keyboard only works out of the back USB ports, which sort of sucks. Running at 1.8 ghz, and it's pretty quick. Can't wait to get cables, and reinstall on cheetahs. XL 700 seems to work fine with 32 bit OS. ATI drivers suck again. s

Well, this cheap computer is turning into a money hole. The GA-K8NSC-939 Gigabyte board came with a dead ATA channel. So, it's going back. In the meantime, I bought a K8nS Ultra "Limited Edition", and put the 3000 processor on that, with the Swifttech heat sink, and vantec fan. 1 gig ram...

Why me? K8NSC-939 Turns out it has a faulty ATA channel. Why me? ATA and I seem to be allergic. Plus, since it's going to have 64 bit windows, all my scsi cards don't work, so I either buy a new one, or RMA the motherboard. Maybe I can get them to ship a new one, and credit for the old...

One thing that has REALLY worked to stop virus, and worms, is scsi drives, an SCAbox now, with lots of ram. I have very little noise from my SCA drives during normal operation. If I start seeing unreasonable, unusual, green lights flashing, the spyware, and Trendmicro are run on this machine...

Yes, and the Power Computing machines were better then Apple's, often at half the price. I have a G3 333mhz that has half speed ide, 16 mb a sec, and a max pci bus speed of 73 mb/sec., thanks to Apple cost cutting, on a then, top of the line machine, worth 3000 bucks. s
