    WorldCom hits the dirt

Front page of the Chicago Trib today. I think Arthur Anderson is really screwed now. I have a feeling that American Business is about to see another period of heavy regulation coming it's way. My predicion is that the SEC is going to start cracking some skulls to make sure this kind of crap...

How to share an internet connection from a dial-up modem.

Go to the properties for the dial-up connection and the last tab should say sharing. Click it. Then click the check box where it says share this connection. Your NIC in the computer with the dialup connection will start serving DNS numbers to any computers on the network. So set any other...

    New 17" Monitor

I can get the Viewsonic E70f for $152 (+shipping). It is supposed to be flat and doesn't cost all that much. Anyone see anything wrong with this? 17" is a strech because of the amount of deskspace available, so there is no way that a 19" monitor would ever fit. I'll suggest it to him though.

    New 17" Monitor

$180 is too much money. What is the cheapest 17" Flat screen I can get? I don't care what shady manufacturer makes it, as long as it has a trinitron or diamondtron tube in it. My dad won't be able to tell a difference anyways.

    New 17" Monitor

My dad wants to get a new 17" monitor for his computer. He doesn't need anything too great, but it should be totally flat (FD). I don't care if it is a trinitron or a diamondtron, I can't tell the difference anyways. So what do you guys reccomend for about $140-$170?

http://www.nrc.gov/reactors/operating/map-power-reactors.html Here is a map of all the operating plants in the US. The Dresden plant is about an hour west of me in Morris, IL. There are no nuclear power plants in Indiana though Merc. Wisconsin and Michigan both have a couple though.

    VB 6 to DOS Prompt

I've never written a program that runs on the command line in VB. But, is there a way to refer to the command line (cmd.exe) as an object. Because, then you could just do cmd.print textfile.txt or something like that. Other than that I am pretty stumped on this one.

Goog VCR for a decent price?

Check out Yahoo Shopping if you are looking for a good deal on consumer electronics. The prices I find on there are generally 20% lower than Best Buy. Sometimes even lower, and I have never had a problem with any of the Yahoo Shopping stores before. A good example is the JVC HR-S2901. Best...

Odds of Warranty Repair vs. Warranty Replacement

I bet they will have the parts to fix it. I recently was looking for Compaq parts for a laptop that is about that old. And Compaq still had all the replacement parts for it. The price for them was really high though. $380 for a DVD replacement drive? $1600 for a replacement LCD panel? Give...

SB Live! locking up my system.

Thanks Buck. I got the Asus board because of all the cool extra features it has. Plus, it got pretty good reviews. It has 4 USB2.0 ports, firewire, crappy Promise RAID. I'm not using any of the addons right now, but I will be hooking up a Digital8 camcorder sometime in the future which...

SB Live! locking up my system.

Thanks for the reply, but I think I already figured it out. I forgot that this motherboard has onboard sound and I never disabled it when I put the system together. You can't disable it in the bios you have to set a jumper. How dumb is that?

You could make it so that after a certain number of posts users are allowed to get a custom title. One of the forums that I read lets users have a custom title after 1600 posts. This way you wouldn't be changing titles all the time and creating new ones constantly. Or you could do it so that...

AMD: not the way to go for new system ?

The only reason I don't know if I would buy an Athlon again is how damn hot it runs. I had to put one of them loud ass CPU fans on there and another case fan, and it still runs hotter than my old PIII. Other than that it works great.

    Re-learning web stuff

The thing is, is that Access creates code that is just as good for simple tasks as any programmer. I don't see how any memory leaks could come from this? Securing a domain name

    Re-learning web stuff

My counter argument to this is that I use wizards in Access all the time to create simple command buttoms or to fill in a subform with data automatically. I can do it manually, but why bother? It even puts in code for error checking, and it does it a lot faster than I ever could. If something...
