    Whatever happened to TinMadDog?

I'm sure most of you remember him from a couple years ago. IIRC he disappeared from SR with 999 posts. (Way before the big crash) Was he a sock puppet of someone else or just really weird?

Finished bulding my race truck tonight

Have any of you guys that build model cars and trucks ever built a plane? Have you ever operated one before? To me flying a plane looks like a lot more fun than driving a model car. I drove a model car a few years ago when one of my friends built one and it got old pretty quick. Never raced...

    Interesting SPEC comparison

Well I'm sure it costs more to lease a $23000 computer than a $6000 computer. Who is in charge of deciding what computers you use anyways?

    Some people really are unpleasent....

One other thing, with all the media attention wrong prices get and people ordering these things you would think that online stores would check over posted prices a whole bunch of times before they go online. Everyone makes mistakes, but these mistakes should be corrected before they go online...

    Some people really are unpleasent....

If I saw an error in a price on a website I might try to order one. But, if they simply returned my money I wouldn't pursue it any further, nor would I pout about it. I don't see anything wrong with trying.

Merc, why don't you go to your local library and download it there? And put it on a zip disk or whatever else is easy. Most medium sized libraries have DSL or T1 nowadays.

Need a HSFan that actually works well.

Maybe it is bad, but that doesn't mean I am going to buy a new one. I bought OEM and I can't return it even If I wanted to. Almost everything is set to default, not OCed at all. Still hasn't crashed either, so I'm not going to worry about it anymore unless it starts crashing again.

    Seagate Cheetah 36LP

I found that there is no warranty on this drive because it was a system pull from an AS/400 or something like that. But, I still have it sitting in a box. I guarantee no DOA, no bad sectors, no problems at all. $100 shipped.

The system has been running at full load for the last 10 hours or so without locking up. When I went home for lunch the CPU was at 61C, but the room also felt relatively cool. Which reinforces my belief that if I cool the chip better I won't have to worry about it locking up.

I just read a review of that Arctic Silver crap and it was less than a degree better than the normal crap they give you when you buy a half way decent heatsink. They can't fool me... The fan on the Heatsink I have right now runs at around 2700RPM. How do you propose that I increase this? If...

The Voodoo card is an add-on. It is only for 3D, so you will need a 2D card anyways. I think I still have one somewhere, I think it is a Diamond Monster 3D. You know you could build an almost new system for a little more money. Something to consider, you could still use all those old crappy...

I don't really have another MB to play around with. Nor can I get the machine to lockup consistently. Which really makes the problem a lot harder to figure out. Last night I ran SETI all night long and this morning the machine was still running fine at 63C. I think the ambient air temp is...

Currently 35C for the case temp, 63C for the CPU. I am using the Asus PC Probe to get my numbers. The weirdest thing that it reports is the +12 Voltage is 13.24. This seems way to high to me, could this be a problem? I used thermal paste when I put the HSFan on, and yes I know how to apply...

I built myself a new Athlon XP 1800+ system a few months ago. But, I have not been impressed with how hot the CPU runs. Under normal usage it is around 59C. Under full load the CPU is up around 65C. If I leave SETI running overnight the damn thing will lock up tight half the time. The HSFan...

How's this for a case mod

I saw that a few months ago on slashdot. The only problem with it is that it would be real hard to change out any parts. Oh and of course the foam is a pretty good insulator, which would definately cause problems with hotter components.

ESS sound cards. 10 bucks and they work in 2000
