On other IQ tests after you reach the age of 16 or 18 age is no longer a factor in determining the score. Emode doesn't say anything about its methods though.

I got a 133 and I'm a Facts Curator. I've taken these tests before and gotten better scores. I chalk this score up to studying 17th century Europe for the last 7 hours.

The new firmware that I linked also works with the ripping speed. I am ripping something right now at about 5x and that is at the beginning of the disc (It's going up).

I found a firmware for the Pioneer A06/106 that makes it region free and is supposed to improve ripping speeds. If anyone is interested here is the link. I installed it on my drive and it works perfectly. I didn't test the ripping speed yet though.

Also, RAR's are much better when using multiple parts. Which is also a necessity if you want to have recovery volumes available. RAR might be a little bit slower, but it is worth the extra time since I am only going to compress something one time.

I use speedisk because of its ability to defragment volumes with nonstandard cluster sizes. On drives that have many large files I use 32KB clusters and speedisk has no problem defragging this, but the Win2k defragger won't do it at all.

Gimme a break, I unrared a 5 gig file on my XP1800 and it only took 20 minutes. There must be something wrong with your computer if it took that long.

I would use Winrar with multiple volumes and keep some parity sets around. Do a google search on par2 for more information on parity volumes. I think 50MB volumes are a good size, depending on what you are storing.

What kind of digital output? Optical or Coax?

I have had cheap no-names last me much longer than 2 years. I have some generic CDs that still work after at least 6 years. Which is incidentally when I first got a CD burner.
