    Sad...my dogs really sick

CK-I know exactly what you are going through. My dog died about 4 years ago. I still miss my dog, but I know that in time I will get a new dog and will be able to have just as much fun as before. That doesn't help things immediately after the fact, but a couple years down the line it does...

    New game in trouble...

It appears that Yahoo decided that the game was offensive so they took down the site. It is now back up. Those who made such a stink over the game only created a much better market for Ghettopoly. At $30 and 15,000 orders David Chang has made a whole lot of money on his idea. Read the letter...

    Review of new Toyota Prius

It's most likely for Turbo lag reasons like Handruin said. But, some engines use sequential turbos, one for low RPMs one for higher RPMs. Most 4 cylinder engines will just use just 1 turbo, and most 6 cylinder engines use 2 turbos. My best guess is because the turbos get too big or are...

    Online IQ test

What's your real IQ Merc? I would guess in the 160-170 range??? Maybe higher. I think one problem with this test is that it won't go higher than about 140 or so.

    Online IQ test

One thing that does get better with age is vocabulary (at least until alzheimer's sets in). I am constantly coming across words that I have never seen before. I try to read in front of my computer so that I can look up words on www.m-w.com or www.wikipedia.org. Reading things that are dense...

On other IQ tests after you reach the age of 16 or 18 age is no longer a factor in determining the score. Emode doesn't say anything about its methods though.

    Screws

I bet if you just walk into any small computer repair shop they would sell you that many screws for a couple of dollars. When I worked in one of those shops we had 1000s and 1000s of screws.

    Promise raid, help needed

Motherboards will die for almost any reason. When I was working as a tech we would get computers in with dead motherboards everyday. There usually wasn't some great reason why it had died. They just die all the time for no apparent reason. Sometimes the customer would say that it was a power...

    Site Change?

SR Forums use the Invision board. The only thing that I like about it is that the search actually works. Other than that it sucks. I like the themes we have here. I am completely used to phpBB 2 as well. Have you ever tried to quote a message with Invision boards? It is a complete PITA...

The new firmware that I linked also works with the ripping speed. I am ripping something right now at about 5x and that is at the beginning of the disc (It's going up).

Best DVD Burner for less than $200.

I found a firmware for the Pioneer A06/106 that makes it region free and is supposed to improve ripping speeds. If anyone is interested here is the link. I installed it on my drive and it works perfectly. I didn't test the ripping speed yet though.

    Zip files....drawbacks?

Also, RAR's are much better when using multiple parts. Which is also a necessity if you want to have recovery volumes available. RAR might be a little bit slower, but it is worth the extra time since I am only going to compress something one time.

    Defrag program....does it matter?

I use speedisk because of its ability to defragment volumes with nonstandard cluster sizes. On drives that have many large files I use 32KB clusters and speedisk has no problem defragging this, but the Win2k defragger won't do it at all.

    Zip files....drawbacks?

Gimme a break, I unrared a 5 gig file on my XP1800 and it only took 20 minutes. There must be something wrong with your computer if it took that long.

    Zip files....drawbacks?

I would use Winrar with multiple volumes and keep some parity sets around. Do a google search on par2 for more information on parity volumes. I think 50MB volumes are a good size, depending on what you are storing.
