    Something Random

I'm sure there are some good Thai restaurants in Chicago. I have only eated Thai food one time, and I didn't like it very much. But, I did eat at a Afghani restaurant last weekend and thought that the food was very good. I had a lamb kebab, soup, and tea.

    "Ignore" function - Poll

I would assume that the "I don't care" votes are just to get a measure of things and don't count in the final tally. Obviously if you don't think the software is ready to use, then we will wait until it has the bugs worked out of it. Why have so few people voted? I know there are more than...

Maybe a poll could be created to see if people want this feature implemented. Just remember, if it is implemented it doesn't mean that you have to use the feature. But, it could come in very handy if more trolls appear.

    google index of SF?

I think they do it during the crawl of the site. Just about every site that is indexed on google has a cache nowadays.
  10. timwhit

    google index of SF?

I doubt the crawler will hurt performance that much. Plus, I don't think the crawler hits a site all that often, maybe once a month at most. Will SF be cached on Google as well then? Great, even if SF is down I can still read old threads.

UW SCSI is 40MB/s right? Then a SE cable should work fine. You don't need LVD cables until you get to U2W SCSI.

I quit smoking back in July, hopefully I can continue to not smoke. What kind of health hazards exist from smoking a pipe? Do you inhale?

Anyone else sees a "warn" bar at SR?

Did I ever say that I was a republican or a conservative. Actually I am neither, I don't feel any connection to any political party in the United States. I don't think I need to tell other people what to think either.

Anyone else sees a "warn" bar at SR?

its.fubar, Why do you feel the need to post your rhetoric in every single thread. Make a thread called "Why I don't like Republican Conservatism" and post your thoughts there. It is absolutely annoying to read the same thing posted in every thread in the P&B. Most regulars here read every...

    Stealth inflation

I wasn't saying that I was going to do this, just that it is an option. If my CC companies start to screw me over then I will get a new card. Hasn't happened over the last couple of years, so I don't think it is that big of deal.

    Stealth inflation

My mom uses a Chase Mastercard, and I don't think she has had any problems with it. There are so many alternatives out there that I could switch from bank to bank every year for the rest of my life, which is a good reason for a CC company to want to keep its customers around. Even if you...

Not to be nosey or anything, but what cards have you guys had problems with in the past. I carry a CapitalOne Visa and an American Express Blue and have had no problems with either one. It would be nice to know which banks to avoid in the future.

    Home Theater Speakers

I hate Klipsch, horns are for megaphones not precision home theater equipment. Evertime I have been to a dealer that sells Klipsch they always push them as being the most efficient. Who cares though, I'm not trying to fill a stadium with sound. I want something that is accurate and doesn't...

    Home Theater Speakers

Well, if your receiver is eight years old, then I don't think it has Dolby Digital 5.1, which is the first technology that really took advantage of surround speakers. Pro Logic is supposed to use rear speakers, but they were mono and didn't come into play all that much in movies. Like I said...

    Temperature

I keep the house I rent at 70 F degrees. But, since it was built in 1906 and the windows are most likely that old as well it gets a little drafty. So whenever you are near a wall or window it is substantially colder than the middle of the house. I doubt that your drives will have a problem...

Buck, It sounds like your budget is pretty well set at this point. I'm not sure how much experience you have with a home theater setup at this point, but I just wanted to throw out a few tips. You might already know this stuff, but it can't hurt to hear it again. The center channel is...

What Office 2003 app are you using when you get the slowdown? What are you doing at the time?
  40. timwhit

I'm starting to think this is kinda ridiculous.

I've decided that from now on I will only buy graphic cards that have passive cooling. No more fans. Plus, I don't really play any games so I don't need to fastest GPU around.

    Office 2003

Haven't noticed any slowdown at all using Office 2003 yet. Will definately post here if I notice that kind of thing happening.
  42. timwhit

I'm starting to think this is kinda ridiculous.

I'm more tired of the noise that fans make, plus the noise that my four hard drives make. I don't care how quiet a hard disk is, if you multiply it by 4 it becomes much more noticeable.

    Office 2003

I can't remember what features Office 2000 added, because I haven't used Office 97 since the end of 1999, about 4 years. But, as I remember 2000 added enough useful features that I found it a good upgrade. On the subject of upgrading from Win98 to Win2000, I couldn't stand to use 98. If I...

I installed Office 2003 tonight, because Word 2000 was acting funky. I'm not so sure I really like the new Office suite much. I used XP for a short time after it came out, but I went back to 2000 pretty quickly when I figured out that XP only offered more annoyances than 2000. Anyways, here...

You should give it a try. I never played the first Heroes of might and magic, but I played the second and third ones a ton. The fourth sucked big time as far as I'm concerned. Quit working 90 hour weeks and play some games Merc. P.S. I still have a copy of HOMM3 if you are interested.

    Random Hard Drive Shutdowns
