I've managed to obtain a half dozen Hitachi 3TB drives. I have exactly two machines where I can fully use a 3TB drive, and even at that it appears that I only have a total of four usable ports. So I need a nice disk controller with large drive support, and perhaps someone else will find this...

Relating to your difficulties time, as I believe I mentioned before, the Outlook mail uploader from Google barfed on complex folder structures (i.e. more than one level of nested folder) when I used it. I wound up verifying everything and moving what wasn't there by hand using simple IMAP copies.

To be honest, practically every modern file format is compressed to some greater or lesser degree. Even things like Word documents and CAD drawings are inflated and deflated as they're opened.

My customers have the same issues with 2008 as they do with Vista/Win7, which is that some of their stuff doesn't run for one reason or other.

The problem is, no one really wants Server 2008.

Anyone done anything with these? I need to generate a quote for a number of laptops and while I'm familiar with similar Thinkpads and Latitudes, I don't have any experience with current HP products.

In the history of ever and for all my clients, I still only have six Server 2008 machines in production. At least one machine I'll have to update this year will probably still be Server 2003, though I'm going to try to get away with virtualizing it one way or the other.

It would be relatively trivial to add a port scan to such an attack to find the RDP port. It's really not worth the hassle to move it. You're better off not exposing RDP externally in the first place, but that can be an issue if you have some obnoxious client that can't handle the VPN protocols...
