Why you really need to do this all the time to get good..

Just seems like every other keyboard is a noisy, 4 dollar keyboard, marketed up because it says Microsoft on it. We'll see how well these last. They are a bit quieter then the MSFT stuff. Frankly, I've been through a couple really big shops, and these are the only ones I've found I like...

Why you really need to do this all the time to get good..

Well, it looks like it's either a bad cable or terminator, which I really doubt, or, the card is fried. Doesn't seem to want to work formatting, on channel two. Went back to the 29160N using the cable from channel two, and everything is working fine. Have to live with a 15.2 as a boot drive...

Why you really need to do this all the time to get good..

Pulled what I think is the bad drive, checked connections, and checked the fans. Drivers are both hot. Before I pulled the drives, I disbanded the array. Now I'm reformatting the new drive, since I can't raid an ntfs disk on the hardware controller, and I wait. Checked the fan on the drives...

Why you really need to do this all the time to get good..

For example, getting the array setup, and bootable, then forgetting to connect the floppy power cable. How about remembering which of the three keyboards I'm supposed to be typing on? Or which mouse does what? I've suspected the zero drive in the array, from the first format, and boot. It...

Ahhh, computers. I'm sitting here, trying to install an ide harddrive on an old P3 450, with a bx chipset. For the life of me, I can't get a drive to be noticed by windows 2000. I've tried it on a Promise 133TX2, two drives, they work with maxtor programs. The first is a DiamondMax 9, 160...

Torrents - do we even need TV any more?

Wonder what a judge would think? Good argument is you are acting legally, since their companies actions are illegal as well. Not going to fly. Can't remember where, but this argument never does. Problem is, anti-trust laws require a weird proof. I suspect price fixing by cable companies is...

Torrents - do we even need TV any more?

Monopoly, Monopoly, Monopoly... No choices. It's sort of like saying we have a free market with 3-4 gas companies, or Enron out there. For instance I can't get Satellite in my apartment, and, I can't pull channels free in this area. Only choice is cable, or no TV. I choose no TV. I miss...

Can you copy DVD's from one reader to another?

CityK: Thanks for the suggestion. I've installed the little guy, and so far so good. The Madog NEC 16X dual layer arrived today, and it comes with Nero, for 89.00. Amazing, simply amazing. Nero works great, and, at Fry's, is 99.00, alone. The burner works great, burning DVD single layers at...

    My system upgrade..

Hmmm. I put the external DVD player on top of the box, and that's got rid of a good bit of vibration. I guess a couple covers on the front wouldn't hurt, either. Try and keep it cheap. Still, I've been looking at all the really cool sound deadening stuff I could use if I built a house, and...

    800X600 LCD?

So far, the answers appear to be no, and no. The options are non-existent. The video out is confined to a 4mb graphics card, and I think that might be the limiting factor. The options aren't avaliable as with other laptops. However, it's under 4 pounds, and works reasonably well. Just...

By the way, the Swifttech heatsinks are kind of strange, since they appear to use 80mm case fans for cooling? I could just as well screw on a 80mm Stealth, I think. For the longest time I couldn't figure out what kind of fans I was supposed to buy, since the numbers Swifttech gives are a bit...

    800X600 LCD?

When I go to a higher res, 1024x768, it does a really weird thing. It becomes much bigger then the avaliable screen, and to get to the edges, you have to drag the mouse to the sides. It's like the screen area is only the center of the bigger screen. Weird. Besides, I thought the deal with...
