HMMM. We had some guys that lived in our apartments when I was in High School that went to St. Mary's. One of the guys got really drunk, and, woke up with a Mallard duck under his covers, male.

I kind of nailed those tests, but, they were on a 1200 point scale. SAT 590/English, 595 Math(I missed one? WHY?) 1195/1200 Achievement Tests: 590/595/600. The 600 was in math, and, that was more like it. I'd already decided to go to a JC, Cabrillo, and then transfer to UCSC. My GPA was 3.5...

No, this hit a nerve. One of the richest, most liberal, and corrupt schools around, and, they are getting other people to pay for their computer cycles. Please delete my obscene language. Also having a few other problems right now. Sorry for the flip out. Sincerely GS

Well, I used to bowl in Berkeley/Albany with an IT guy from the school. He was pretty good, but David's FAR better. On the otherhand David doesn't have to try and make Mac Pluses work for a starting programing class. Did you check, and do they have, a night school? Berkeley Extension is...

    Where is the next CPU?

I've had really good luck paying about 100 bucks a drive, and, getting 15k or 10k drives for boot and storage respectively. They last an average of 5-7 years each. The real problem is finding tests that work on the SSD's.

I'm sorry. Let's get this straight. My uncle, his father, both went, and graduated from Stanford. Both my uncle's sons, and myself border on genius, at least according to our test scores. None of us have been admitted. I guess my uncle, and his father didn't pay the bastards enough fucking...

LSAT is a test designed to perpetuate the status quo. As a older, wiser, experienced person, I didn't fit the profile, or limited life experience to do well on the LSAT. I did OK. There is no reason, other then affirmitive action that I don't have a law degree from Stanford, instead of JFK. I should say, that's not true. SSDs - State of the Product?

I guess the specifics are what cpu usage are you getting with DVD Shrink, DVD Dcripter, NERO 9, etc.? while I'm typing this, I'm running about 8% cpu usage, with a DVD playing LOUD, Rolling Stones, What's MY NAME?

SSDs - State of the Product?

OK: First off, the dual xeons have been REALLY fast, since when most people where using 30 mb/sec 5400 rpm drives, I was using 2 X 15's in raid 0 for a boot drive. SSD's represent the first time, in a LONG time, like 12 years, that actual desktop top systems can surpass that setup, or, the SCA...

SSDs - State of the Product?

David is doing well since I'm sure he doesn't save any expense in doing it. SATA 3.0 excellent grade RAID controller, Raid 0 to increase cache, etc. Mercutio is probably pretty much the same. Intel seems to be the way to go, but, they are as they always are: ripping the profit on their topend...

SSDs - State of the Product?

I agree. The only thing is, I'm not going from a 7200 rpm drive with a 16 ms Random Access time to a SSD. Sustained through put does have an effect on speed, and, is noticeable, when the numbers are fairly large. I notice a large difference in Seagates 7200's when one is working at 60 mb/sec ...

SSDs - State of the Product?

I guess what I'm getting at is after checking these benchmarks, here is what I come up with. Access time is .02 ms for a SSD. For mine it's 6.0 ms. So, 29 times faster. From the tests on that website, the highest sustained read is 144 mb/sec. Seems like not a bunch different. Take the raid...

Honestly, though, I wouldn't recommend picking up any SSD until we have a clearer picture of which drives will support the TRIM command and how they'll perform in Windows 7 ntel's X25-M remains the all-around performance leader, and even with a higher cost per gigabyte than its rivals, the 80GB...
