From ram disk testing, my system is maxed at 1200 mb/sec. David's at 3500 mb/sec, IIRC. The 3 Ware Raid card has done 800 mb/sec, in the 133 PCI-X slot, with 8 7200 SATA drives in one of the tests. I think at these speeds, and access times, to really notice a difference, you need to at least...

2 GIG OF RAM IS ALL 2003 WEB 32 BIT WILL SEE. Motherboard will take 12 gigs. I do have a 64 bit version of XP, but, there is some reason, hardware wise, maybe, it won't work with this setup?

Another good point would be that you can connect a SSD to a SATA controller as well as to a SAS controller. David, you've already made the point that the current SATA controllers take advantage of the cpu/memory on the motherboard. Not sure how that works, but, that would be an advantage to SATA.
