Greg, just an FYI, write-through is the slower caching method. IIRC, It basically disables the controllers write caching and passes all writes through to the drives.

Not only rack density, but cheap servers themselves. A 1U server is several hundred cheaper than an equivalent 3U server. I built these for under $800, so that matters quite a bit.

Well, there ya go. Keep in mind these things are loud. Just putting them in another room in your house won't be enough. I can hear them through a firedoor in a cinderblock wall.

I wouldn't recommend anything plasma due to the burn-in issues. If someone has vision issues, 1366x768 might even be a bonus. I think brightness is adjustable on all of them. Of course, you want to make sure it has an HDMI port so you can connect using DVI and not VGA.

If your TV is still analog, does it support HD at all? If not, that would be the place to put money first. I don't see a difference watching a DVD or BR on a standard def TV.

I actually have the previous version, it is bigger. They are fully programmable, including macros and key combos. It is actually small. Razer Copperhead. The function keys are the same size as the rest? They are a bit smaller on the G15.

WHS sounds like a good idea in your situation. Gets your resources onto the network, allows you to add the redundancy you are after, and gives you an excuse to stick an SSD in your workstation. ;)

Greg, a Vertex Turbo gets close to SATA 300MB/s, but doesn't beat it. SATA6 won't get you anything using Vertex Turbos. The bottleneck will be in the controller or northbridge. Somewhere around here I posted some graphs of 3 Vertex Turbos on a ICH10R, and the speed was limited by the controller...
