Afraid not. VMWare just works too well for my needs to bother with other stuff.

I remember it from a kid, with vague kid-like memories. "oh, cool!". Then I would watch it, and realize that there really wasn't a plot at all "that sucks". Of course, the "oh, cool" memory would stick around longer, and I would be tricked into deciding to watch it again.

True enough, but that would only be 2TB of online backup service.

    Online backup

Being a company with more than one site, there is no need to pay someone else for off-site backup. Just stick a server with a bunch of drives at another site and back up to it.

Nope. The website tells you to call customer service. Customer service asks you a bunch of questions, then tells you to call their transaction resolution hotline. The hotline asks you a bunch of questions, then tells you to hold for a rep, then tells you that no reps are available and hangs up...

Nice article. When I was there, I was stunned at the depth of the escalators. Particularly those around the river. And in weeks of riding them many times a day, I never encountered an escalator that wasn't working and completely packed.

I'll be getting a batch of upgrades during Intel's next high-end refresh. Not a 980X, but whatever is faster after that. It's a shame I can't find a way to run the client on a VM on a production ESXi server using only the idle cycles.

Will Dynamic Disks survive a Vista to Win 7 upgrade?

Assigning disks to folders gets really complicated really quickly. It leads to things like a volume having free space but a folder being full. Not good for organization, IMHO. Dynamic Disks will survive most anything, including system upgrades and swaps.

4 weeks shouldn't be an issue, particularly on a machine like that in those conditions. The built-in UPS may actually be a benefit. Just in case, you might want to configure the app to run on startup.

I wouldn't expect that kind of uptime from a laptop; they are thermal timebombs. I have yet to find one that can run indefinitely without thermal throttling or crashing. None of them seem to have enough cooling to do the job right.
