    Something Random

I agree that the particles accelerator should not be allowed to power up. Not on Earth, at least. The possibility that a black hole will be created is very, very slim, but no one can rule it out (the "end of the Universe" thing is complete crap). I'm all for scientific progress and research...

    GPU folding is here!

I resumed GPU folding with the beta 177.40 driver from Nvidia. I hope the results will improve. Trying to install the 177.35 with the modified inf file never worked. I always ended up with a standard VGA graphic adapter.

    GPU folding is here!

My GeForce 8800GT has been folding for two days now. It yields about 1000 points/day, but it doesn't clutter one of the CPU cores like the old client used to.

Yes 105W for the Q6600, 65W for the E6750. Answer : Q6600. It fits. No. Unless you do something stupid and try to put a 225W HD2900XT into the system. 380W is well enough for a 105W CPU, reasonable (not insane) graphic card, any µATX motherboard and RAM and four or less drives.

The power figures showed at SR about the Hibachi were quite good. I doubt they'll be much better for the Seagate despite the four platters design. Don't forget that the Hitachi has a 32MB buffer, so it helps to reduce quite a lot of head movements.

    More Vista nonsense

The hardware is relatively benign. if I could tell my customers that they only need to buy a new box and vista will run fine, I would be laughing. The main problem with Vista is software incompatibilities. Many many many programs either work a lot slower on it (games are up to 40% slower) or...

PC will not boot with HD2600Pro card.

A Radeon HD 2600 uses up to 50W, probably three times as much as the X300. Are you sure the power supply is up to the task? That's 7 hard drives, a 105W CPU, a 50W graphic card, a PCI-E RAID controller and huge memory modules. That's quite a lot of stuff. Other than power-related issues, I...
