I see some older ones like that online, but am leery of any downloads.

Every scan has been normal. I don't think any more will be covered unless something happens.

Apparently there is an ATM CARD of $4.8Million waiting for me in the Benin Republic.

It sure was better then. I wish I had purchased some 2007 or 2010 discs before the download model.

    question New Computer

It is the end of Q2, not to say that none of the others could apply. ;) The scans did not reveal anything abnormal about the brain.

    question New Computer

Obviously new hardware will require W10, but there is no point in that until necessary when it is worth building the next hexacore system. It is my understanding that 10 does not require internet after activation, so it is viable. I seriously dislike the current Office and Adobe independently...

    question New Computer

I'm not planning to play video, but I figured why not pick the i7. For basic internet use does it really get that hot? Indoor temp never exceeds 25°C and is usually 22°C.

What is the feeling on an NUC? Maybe I could buy one and just use it for the internet.

    KVM Switch

Thanks. I need to read up on the displays. All the photo people are into the DP. I know that DP and HDMI can support 10 bits, but often don't. Since I'm not building a new main system I can get a new video card if needed.

    KVM Switch

The new monitor is still MIA. I could continue to use the old KVM for the K_M, but I'm not sure about the interoperability of the three standards. Which ones can be converted with simple adapters and which would require some active device that could compromise the data or change the colorspace?

it goes to a page http://donate.libreoffice.org/home/dl/win-x86_64/5.3.1/en-US/LibreOffice_5.3.1_Win_x64.msi and then a 404.

Thanks. I rejected the sever hardware years ago as they are costly and don't fit my single-user needs.

    question New Computer

The website doesn't seem to work. When I click on the Download for 5.3.1 it goes to another page for a fraction of a second and then to a 404 page. :(

    question New Computer

I just received the new laptop and don't like the W10 at all, but it might be improved with Classic Shell or other tools. The Officer 365 has become abominable and I'd probably use Open Office or something. For now I suppose it is best to just keep going with the current system and focus on the...

    question New Computer

I see you still have a 5930K as Work 1. Are the Home 1 and Home 2 no faster, or only due to the O/C? I'm not into the liquid coolers due to potential leakage concerns.

    question New Computer

Thanks. So in 2017 there is less than 25% improvement over 2014? That rather sucks. When is the next 6-core CPU/chipset due? I'm already questioning the need for 6 cores as they were only being marginally better than 4and harder to O/C. I'm not interested in 8 cores going forward. Mainly the...

    question New Computer

What is the best CPU/mainboard that I can get in 2017 that will still work with Windows 7 or maybe 8.1? It should be significantly faster than the old 5930K @4.4GHz, especially on a single thread. My goal is to have the main computer (and NADS) normally disconnected from the internet. After...

There is now a new Synology NAS, the DS1817+. Finally there is a Synology with a PCIs slot for a 10GbE adapter. I cannot find a price, but I'm expecting it to be reasonable, though the card raises the total. What is the relative performance of the old quad-core Atomic CPU compared to the ARM...

Apparently I'm not being clear. There will be food and it doesn't matter who pays because we are on travel. I prefer not to have dinner with the "vendor" before meeting with them the next day. I'd rather eat and meet with our team including any consultants or operatives. Much of the discussion...

    problem E-mail

I'm planning to use the POP3. If I understand correctly only the main account can send e-mail, whereas the aliases are good for incoming e-mails such as accounts with online websites. I will start with two basic accounts and go from there. Thanks all for the help.

    Bluetooth speakers

I'm finally using the XB3s on either side of the bed in the stereo configuration. I boosted the highs to compensate for the directional falloff (and my aging ears) and cut the lows a little, so they sound nice at a moderate level for background music. I'm not having BT issues with the speakers...

    problem E-mail

The SMTP port is supposed to be 465, but I've tried the others and they don't work either. If they are discontinuing e-mail you'd think they would allow SMTP to other servers. It just doesn't make sense that ATT functions (also a third party). What can I do but try some other services?

    problem E-mail

Yes, I did all that. I checked the port settings, created a new profile several times, and even generated several of the 16-digit "app" passwords. It continues to pop up the password dialog box. I don't see any limits on which Outlook is used. I have all the same settings for the ATT account...

The minimum would be three, two desktop machines (in case one fails or I am working on one) and one company laptop. I'm thinking about adding a low-power, tiny machine just for the internet and e-mails, but that is for another thread. I understand some people work on laptops directly, but it...
