I want my messages displayed in simple chronological order by time received. I don't like messages moving around. I ALSO don't like accidentally deleting whole conversations because a cat stepped on my phone. Reply-after-quote is only a reasonable format if you expect all email conversations to...

Threaded messaging is an abomination, as is quote-after-reply messaging. These are things that should at the very least be controllable user preferences and platforms that get those things wrong or force one behavior (Gmail/Android handles BOTH incorrectly) are at best misfeatured.

Anything that does IMAP is at least viable, in my opinion. In this case, I'm specifically dealing with GMail the Android app rather than Gmail as a platform. Android/Gmail was recently updated to support non-Google mail services with the idea of replacing the admittedly rather crummy unbranded...

Seriously? No one else has this problem? Here's a step by step for demonstrating the problem: Open the Google Drive app. Open a File. Choose Send File. Choose Gmail. When I do this, I get an error. If I choose to "Attach Using Drive" from within Gmail, what's shared is a link rather than actual...

    Something Random

I really only use Chrome for stuff that gets broken by ABP/Noscript/Ghostery (e.g. Yahoo's new TV service) that I'm too lazy to fix. My opinion of Chrome is low enough that if IE's version of ABP had feature parity, I'd actually prefer IE.

I regularly have browsers using more than 3GB, but most of my other needs are wrapped up in VMs that I want running for one reason or other. One of my most frequently used VMs needs 16GB because modern Exchange and Sharepoint both run like ass unless they're given that much.

    Cats of Storageforum

When I was growing up in very rural Illinois, everyone's cats were indoor/outdoor animals, but I suppose it's just like children these days: You want them indoors for their own safety because you never know what will happen. That is terrible news, mubs, but those kitties had better lives for...

PC Gaming = World of Suck

Game Engine footage is crucially NOT in-game footage. That's gorgeous and I bet machinima folks will love it, but the actual game will probably be artificially limited to 720p with only four moving characters on the screen because consoles suck.

I hate to say it but anything that doesn't have 4GB RAM is probably going to be too constrained to run a desktop browser in the near future. None of the major options are terribly respectful of low RAM configurations right now and I don't see that getting any better. If you're thinking of a...

Youtube performance issue in SLI system

If we're spreading blame between nVidia and Adobe let's just say I'm willing to call that a hole with no bottom. Also, I slightly misspoke. That Titan X is roughly equivalent to an early 2000s Supercomputer.

I had Google voice port my parents' old land line number. It's an easy number to remember. It works great, though I'm always a little worried that Google will decide to up and drop Google...

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

There was a pretty huge leak of specs on the LG G4 yesterday. It's going to be a tiny bit wider and taller but the same thickness as the G3. Sales taxes are highly regressive. They penalize people at lower incomes to a much greater degree based on percentage of income.
