    4k TVs and Monitors

I always went with what I've had around - - I once had a (almost definitely overdriven, at 1024 x 768 with 32 bit colors) 14" CRT VGA monitor that was so old that it felt the need to prominently display the fact that it was non-interlaced, despite the fact that people stopped caring about that...

    Performance options for Chrome!

You guys probably already knew of this, but significant performance boosts can be gotten by enabling or disabling certain options in the chrome://flags section. It even works on Android! Of particular note are the "Override software rendering list," "GPU Accelerated SVG filters," "Disable...

Lubuntu or Mint support for old hardware

I used to have one, so being on a limit now hits harder than it would for others. I'm still used to not having a limit, which, unsurprisingly, sends the used data skyrocketing. As such, I am limited to downloading large files (100 MB+, or somewhere thereabouts) when I am at school on my GTab...

Lubuntu or Mint support for old hardware

Linux is a bit difficult. I've finally found something that can challenge me. This is a good thing. There, happy now? :-D Also, broke down and installed Chrome. I originally didn't want to (didn't like the prospect of Google acting like Big Brother...) but, you were right, it does have built...

Lubuntu or Mint support for old hardware

Mint 16 Petra is installed! Honestly, I'm shocked, as far as Linux goes for me, it installed without a hitch! I even configured MATE to look (exactly) like GNOME 2.xx! Much easier to navigate, at least for me. I will get a screengrab when I get home, if you guys care. I will say that while...

Lubuntu or Mint support for old hardware

I just grabbed a Mint x64 w/ MATE ISO while I was at school. Gonna set up setup probably on my dad's old 2 GB flash drive (the ISO was a little over 1.2 GB). From there I'll put it on my laptop.

    Getting an SSD!

That'd be nice, only I already spent the money - - and after S&H, that price'd likely skyrocket. What I did was I bought two 8 GB USB sticks (for OS installing purposes), a new keyboard for the laptop, and a new external mouse for the laptop, as the one I'm using now is on loan from my mom.

Now, not only do I have Lubuntu as a secondary on my GX270, but I also have it as my main OS on my laptop! I had to update my wifi hardware's firmware to get it working.

This looks pretty cool. I'll have to try it whenever I can get around to it. Also - - in the screenshot showcasing the CPU clock speed - - 1.97 GHz? Lenovo Thinkpads

Wow, derailed that didn't I? Well, back to the topic: If I could go with a ThinkPad, I'd go for a T420 not just because the model number's funny (tee hee), but because it seems to be the better value for the money. 100 MHz isn't a noticeable difference anymore, hasn't been for a few years now...

^ I lol'd. I want to chime in and say that, if I could afford it, I'd be heading for a ThinkPad. But PC sales are dipping in general, and things look bleak, though I will say I don't think...

Got my OG Samsung GTab on ICS!

I followed a guide somewhere on how to get a Samsung Galaxy Tab (which normally supports only up to Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread) onto 4.0.3 ICS. Mic doesn't work, camera's a bit flaky but I don't use either of those anyway. Everything else works perfect, much smoother than on Gingerbread. It...

I've decided to put the SSD into the laptop (which I actually did get, today in fact). Pentium Dual-Core T4300 @ 2.1 GHz, 4GB RAM, Intel Mobile 45 chipset. Dell Inspiron 1545. Not much of an upgrade, but it's portable and free.

I'm not saying I want to upgrade the GPU, I'm just weighing the benefits. That's the full extent of the torture I put on a GPU. Skyrim...
