    Good, actually silent refrigerator

Actually, I found MicroFridge earlier, but the article I linked to mentions them explicitly so I tried to keep it simple for ya. ;) Also, I couldn't find empirical evidence that MicroFridges are truly quiet.

    Good, actually silent refrigerator

I was going to point out the practical limitations of thermoelectric refrigeration (i.e. it sucks for anything that isn't tiny) and suggest absorption fridges instead: Some of the national accounts with which the company works mandate absorption cooling minibars because they are silent. But...

The moon is, on average, 384,400km away. For a penny to drop that far in only 8 days, it must be travelling at 560m/s. Mythbusters has established that pennies typically fall at 29m/s. Ergo, LM is 19 times smarter than Mythbusters.

+1. I found the flash on this Nexus page used heaps of CPU in Chrome and Opera, and actually caused Opera to hang. Upgrading to 10.1 RC kept both browsers responsive. Interestingly, Firefox seemed to use less CPU when running the same flash. Anybody have any idea why, or even care?

Dual LEDs, not as bright as a Xenon flash, but good for a couple of meters. That's pretty funny. We have 3 (down from 4) carriers, as well as bunch of telcos that resell that capacity. All three networks are national, i.e. they compete against each other across most of this wide brown land (where you can actually get reception, that is). People use either prepaid or postpaid (account)...

    iPhone syndrome

When the iPhone 3GS came out late last year, commentators seemed to think it wasn't much different, so I didn't take any notice. Now that Handruin has objected to me belittling his pride and joy, I realize that in fact the 3GS (or possibly OS 3.0?) is a very big step up. The Nokia 5800 was...

Out of curiosity, where did you get $299 from? To buy an iPhone outright (no contract, unlocked) is $499 or $599 - isn't it? In Oz, the Nokia 5800 is 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of an iPhone. The cheapest Virgin Mobile 2-year plan for the Nokia is AU$19/month (inc tax) whereas the cheapest iPhone (8GB)...

    Dell U2410 24" H-IPS monitor - thoughts?

    Dell U2410 24" H-IPS monitor - thoughts?

That would be ridiculously high in Oz, but I don't know how rich your A/C technicians are in the US. I'm definitely not an A/C tech, but I estimate it would take about 3 to 4 hours to change a compressor, allowing for less than perfect access. I found a reference on the net where the...

In some places Symbian still wants a double-click (less and less as it's refined on an ongoing basis). The Nokia 5800. I won't annoy Handruin by listing all the things it does better than an iPhone. Instead, I'll highlight the main reason people might prefer the iPhone: the different type of touchscreen. The iPhone uses a capacitive system that only requires the presence of a finger, i.e. an...

I'm a bit stunned that Udaman seems to know what a UART is. :o For the record, 25-pin serial connectors were supplied on the IBM PC, but were replaced with 9-pin connectors on the IBM AT. IBM (and just about everybody else) only ever implemented 8 signals + ground, so there is no functional...
