    Playing with VPN...

Well, thanks to a significant and most generous amount of time and effort by or most knowledgeable member, time, my stuff is running almost as it should. About every 30 minutes or so it drops for about 15 seconds (just enough time to screw everything). I haven't been aboe to verify whether the...

I'm looking at doing something similar, setting up an intranet just for handling helpdesk calls. Anyone have a free, pre-made solution? Hosting it via IIS is a must, tying into either MSDE or Access would be ideal.

    Has anyone ever used . . .

I recently got one of these it rocks. The only problem is it uses a format other than NTFS or FAT32, so you can't use the USB drive directly with a PC after the mandatory format. Network speeds were OK, though I didn't run proper benchmarks before I gave it to my GF. It manages streaming DIVX ok.

How long have you lived at your current address?

This is the longest I've lived anywhere since I left home (1.5 years), my average is around 8 months. Much of my time was spent "couch surfing" with "girlfriends", and actually living with actual girlfriends. This is the first time I've been on my own in that whole time. I haven't had my name on...

I have had significantly more data corruption on FAT32 than on NTFS. The biggest problems are on developer stations, where the system hard locks and can't be shut down properly often. Another one of my clients was using a power bar to turn on/off their PC, that caused me to have to do a...

    Playing with VPN...

It is very helpful, thank you, but it's a bit late for it to be making sense. Rosewill or Jetway ATI cards any good?

I noticed newegg's scarcity of video cards myself the other day, don't know what's going on. IIRC, if the board supports AGP 4x, than any 8x cards will also work. The funky incompatabilities were all between 1x, 2x, and 4x.
  46. ddrueding

Loud Pop + Smoke = Machine still working???

Indeed. I've found a few case manufacturers "cheat" on the underside of the board; using either shorter headers or sinking the mounting points below the level of the sheet metal. Either brings the bottom of the board closer to the grounded sheet metal of the case.

Rosewill or Jetway ATI cards any good?

Can't really speak WRT to brands, as I only use Sapphire or ATI, but I can definatly reccomend staying away from the "LE" cards. From what I've heard, they are significantly crippled variants.
