I highly suspect that both (and managed switches in general) are overkill for your house. I should know, I specialize in that kind of overkill ;)

I asked where they wanted me for the ceremony, and they said that I would distract from the moment. I did get pictures all through the rehearsal and party, as well as many posed shots. It will be some time before I can post them here, I need to show them and then get their permission to do so...

Just got home from New Years; it was part of the same trip. I've barely had time to do the photo selection, much less the post-processing stuff. The bride and groom haven't even seen any yet :P

Which 24 port "smart" gigabit switch?

If the features of the Procurve work for you, the lack of fan, low power and low heat swing the deal IMHO. Even if the fan noise is a non-issue as stated, if the switch is dependant on a fan than that makes it less reliable than one that can work well without.

    Where's everybody?

New Years was not bad. Although there were 45k people in the parks, and they canceled the fireworks due to high wind, we found an open table at the vineyard in California Adventure and had champagne; the fireworks went off anyway.

Thanks much for the tips, guys. I just got to my hotel and am copying the pictures off the CF cards as we speak. A total of ~550 shots were taken during rehearsal and at the party, no photography was specifically requested during the ceremony (I applaud the idea). The flash did stay on the...

    Need KT266A board cheap

Cap replacement isn't hard. All the values for the caps are written on the caps. (De)soldering is a pretty simple process, and the parts themselves are cheap.

Nope. It comes with a mini-tripod thing so I can set it down on a table or chair nearby. I was looking at the brackets, and none of them had enough versatility to justify the added bulk/weight. Worst case I just get someone handy to hold the flash where I want it.

Turned out the car battery was just really, really dead. The tow truck had to let it charge for 10+ minutes and have his truck attached simultaneously to get it to turn over. But now all is well, except for the $90 fee to jump my car. Shouldn't have let my AAA expire.

Gig-E speeds for wired network behind old router

I was under the impression that a NIC either sends jumbo frames or it doesn't. If jumbo frames are enabled on the NIC, then everything it talks to has to be able to handle them. If your router can't handle jumbo frames, then that traffic won't get out. I believe this is why jumbo frames are...

Gig-E speeds for wired network behind old router

I have been told that using both network ports on a computer by bridging them allows one side to run jumbo frames and the other side to not. Gig-E speeds for wired network behind old router

Based on my research (ie - not guaranteed to be accurate) Get a basic GbE switch, connect it to your router, connect your GbE devices to the switch. This still won't utilize "Jumbo Frames", but it will be faster (at least mine was) between GbE devices. In order to use jumbo frames, you need...

Last year we went to my grandmothers house for Christmas. Unfortunatly, I failed to book a hotel room in time and we ended up sleeping on the floor in the living room.
