Another Digital Camera Thread - Point and Shoot

Indeed. My CF cards cost more than my body, and my lenses cost more than both combined. Isn't that they way?

I sold all my SD cards but one, a 32GB Sandisk Extreme. Should serve you nicely ;)

    Decent Inexpensive Headphones?

Yeah, I was specifically after it for the mic capabilities as well. Thanks for the tip on the noisy mic, but I think that is a universal problem. Do you like the triplefi? It is a bit expensive...

    4-Port Internal Controller

No, my comment was more about the general state of controller/drive compatibility. The fact that 7 years (and countless generations of products) after SATA was created, the spec still has enough vagueness to cause basic incompatibility is ridiculous.

So you convert all the files before making your "picks"? The first thing I do is narrow it down to a hundred or so before doing any processing.

    4-Port Internal Controller

I was informed by Areca support that they don't like Samsung drives. You'd think that that kind of crap would have been sorted in the decades of standards and testing.

Yeah....no. I don't have that much gear, but thanks for the tips if I end up doing more of this. The lighting was nothing more than the 9 32w 4' tubes in the normal fixtures in my office, with an 80CM light tent sitting on my desk.

    Display timewarp

If it was only optimized for landscape, would it not also only be optimized for a single resolution? That doesn't make sense to me. I haven't run the benches, but I don't think there would be a hit. The main cost I see is having to go with better LCDs, so the horizontal (now vertical) viewing...

You are almost as good at spending my money as my wife... Edit: But that still has the horizontal bezel right down the middle...I still think 5 16:9 in portrait is the winner.

    Quality 24"-28" LCD monitors

Now that Youtube has added support for 4k video, perhaps we can start the path that moves commodity LCDs from 1920x1080 to 4096 x 2304. I certainly won't mind.
