That would do, or you can just take off the top plate and shatter the platters by dropping them on the ground. Probably just throwing it on the ground repeatedly would do fine.

My current Win7 x64 build, including apps (CS5 (PS and Acrobat), PTGui, Photomatix, Canon DPP, Office 2010, Firefox) is 110GB. Even a slimmer config would be tight on a 32GB. I've managed to squeeze Win7 x64, Office2010, PS CS5, and Firefox onto an X25-V 40GB, but I don't think I had 8 to spare.

So what you really need is another X25-E to create a larger RAID-0 for page/temp/etc and something else (C300?) for the OS (you still need XP32 for something?).

What are you booting off now? Are you only using the X25-E for page/cache? Is 32GB enough for that?

That question is more difficult to answer. I do think that my Z-Drive machine boots and loads apps faster than my RAID-0 of Vertex drives which both are faster than the solo Vertex LE in my laptop. But all three systems scale CPU, GPU and RAM as well, so it isn't an apples to apples comparison...

The humidity has been pretty bad here, too. Today it was 80F with nearly 60% RH. Enough to make stuff sticky, and leather seats uncomfortable.

Monitors are too tall? Not in my experience. Quite a few of my users have stacks of phone books under their 19-22" LCDs. Back when I was in a company large enough to have an ergonomicist, they said that, looking straight ahead, your eyes should be 1/3rd of the way down the screen.

odd, but effective. I haven't seen that much airflow past HDDs in cases this small in a long time.

If the card shows as a boot option, that is all that is required. You specify which drive from the controller on the controller's management interface.

I build them myself. This is one of the easiest builds ever. The case makes everything a breeze. I think it took about 15 minutes, including unboxing all the bits, until I was in the BIOS. This system is not particularly cheap, and I am dissapointed with the noise level of the stock fans, but...

Mainly to get files off in a hurry, but I must admit that I'm a bit addicted to the 8FPS high-speed mode, and that burns through speed and capacity quite well. The 720P@60FPS video is lovely also.

Indeed. The Win7 performance index was bottlenecked by the GPU at 4.8; a very respectable score. It absolutely rocks at basic office and web tasks.

Not really. A 7D and 3 SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB cards. I suspect your CF cards combined cost more than a 1DsIII ;)
