Netgear Wireless Kits w/ rebate at Amazon

Thanks for the update, Handruin. I don't desperately need to buy this stuff, but am keeping an eye open for a good deal. After seeing such mixed reviews for Netgear and Belkin, I've decided I'll stick with Linksys. Linksys seems to have a short life (~15 - 18 months), but while they're alive...

    Bad News on Scumware.

After being free tech support to all my contacts for years, I'm slowly weaning them off. I'm sick of doing it. Most of the last 2 years and earlier this year, this issue sucked up so much of my time. I'm burned out by this crap. Sorry, but now most of them are on their own now. These days I have...

    Storage Deals (or not)

Seagate rebates are a problem. Mine is still not processed by the 3rd party processor after 18 weeks. First they said the serial # wasn't a retail serial#, as the rebate required. It was. After arguing with them and talking to a supervisor, they forwarded it to "another department" for...

    DVD Burner Recommendations?

I've used Easy CD/DVD Cremator for years. For basic stuff, it'll do, though it is bloatware. I've made plenty of data/music CDs with it, and a few data DVDs. Don't know how good it is at making video DVDs; never did it yet.

Brisk! I'd be frozen stiff. The coldest I've ever experienced in my life is about 34F (that's +, not -). The weather's all goofy this year, it seems. We got record rainfall here in S. Will: sorry, but ALi does suck, big time. I have FW PCI cards made by Adaptec and Belkin, and they both work perfectly. I bought a Syba 2-port FW Cardbus card ($20) for my laptop, and had to send it back because it was really flaky. I bought an Adaptec card ($60) that has been absolutely...

copy from PATA to SATA disk uses 70% CPU

I think people with SATA ports have had mixed success with that tool. I have a Promise Ultra 100 that Windows sees as a SCSI controller, and I get an error too (probably the same one, I don't remember). My understanding is that if the SATA (and in my case Promise) driver does not conform...

copy from PATA to SATA disk uses 70% CPU

Could this be the old W2k / Wxp / W2003 "SCSI bug"? AFAIK, SATA controllers are treated as SCSI controllers in Windows. It could be the non-cached writes to the SATA drive that's the culprit. Storing Data DVDs

I have a couple of high-capacity (~248) Case-Logic CD binders. Can I store DVDs in them too? This may seem like a silly question, but since DVDs have much smaller "pits", I'm concerned that repeated insertion into the sleeves may render them unusable. Thanks.
