If you were to buy a laptop: brand?

hmmm life book eh? crusoe.... fast speed, but I'd rather have an intel .. even at lower speed(I'm sure everyone says this at 1st) 10" screen... hmm that's a few inches smaller than i was hoping for... 12 hour battery... very nice! built in DVD/CD.. nice.. but required by me. built in LAN...

My point is that a disc solution...(while maybe slower).. is not a bad thing. Depending on the implementation of each idea I see them as fairly equal.

    iVDR Hard Drives

Hard disks are just so costly and prone to damage... a writable DVD cost less and is simpler to maintain. The advantages of a HDD is taht they are fast and can basically be written to an infinite amount of times. The disadvantage is that they will wear out after a few(maybe 5) years of constant...

Worth it to buy a Maxtor 10k3?

But it's just so easy to backup and restore in its default location... i usually do a clean install every 6 months to a year... plus I sometimes take out my bulk storage drive for various reasons... I wouldn't want to be without my "my docs" folder which includes downloads, school files...

E_dawg, hows the "shit box" coming along? you ever get a new HDD for it? Looks like you've already decided on the 10kIII.. never had one myself, but looked like the drive i would get if I went SCSI 1) because of overall value 2)reliability 3)good speed. The cheatah got my attention, but it...

    Thermaltake Volcano9

well.. i was thinking the same thing.. a thermister is a resister.. and as such has no polarity requirements.. however I remember my old Abit mobo (my 1st mobo to have temp sensoring via a thermister)... well I found out that for some reason if you plug in the thermister backwards it would...

buggy thermister perhaps? Dont thermisters need to be plugged in with the correct polarity (I'm pretty sure of this one) or they read the wrong temp? hmm 1,660 is a bit above the spec'd min (1,300)... almost 30% faster. I wonder if the one you got is "lazy" so to speak, and doesn't increase...

That's insane! I liked the old "general" licensing rules that I learend in the early 90's.... a) you can install the program to as many machines as you want as long as it's used by only 1 person b) you can install the program on 1 machine and let any amount of people use it. I think this...

No offense, but that seems like an even worse idea... if you had 1MB built into the mobo it would occupy 1 of the few banks that you can use... and you're not really even taking advantage of that bank if you only put in 1 MB...(usually you can use 3 sticks of RAM stabily at a mobo's max speed)...
