SSDs - State of the Product?

Incorrect. More reasonable translation: We tried this and couldn't get it to work right. Or, we tried this and it broke something else. Or, we didn't have the time/money to try this, so we don't know if it works. If they hated their customers, they'd require QuickTime.

I don't like nVidia's mobile graphics. I wish they'd go back to ATi. Anyway, I'm figuring that the Intel crap graphics should be sufficient for her. She hasn't gotten back with the exact applications that she wants to be able to use, but I doubt that "games" moves much beyond solitaire.

She was willing to pay the $3k for the XPS if I had told her it fit her needs; so, as long as I can explain why she's spending money on certain components, it should fly. Now, I used to spec R-series as a desktop replacement, but you can't even seem to get discrete graphics on them any more...

The race for the US presidency

Well, they do seem to have money pouring out of their ears. At this point, a lot of money now being donated to the campaign isn't going to be used on the campaign. They've programmed out to November 4 based on the money they pulled in up to the end of September -- and that's plenty.

Upgrading from XP to XP x64?

You can't upgrade because it's not "up." At best, it's sideways, and, in any case, a different platform. It would be vaguely akin to taking a drive out of a PowerPC Macintosh, sticking it into an Intel Mac, and then expecting to be able to upgrade to the latest MacOS. Although, you might...
