Liberating TSP files from a dead DVR

Not everyone. The U-verse DVR just records the incoming stream, without any changes. I might suspect that satellite DVRs work the same. However, you'd be foolish to think that the incoming stream isn't encrypted in some way....

The new touchpads are multitouch. No sure yet what that gets for you. I will say that I've never had anyone complain that I convinced them to buy a Thinkpad. Some whine about the price, but once it's in their hands, it becomes totally worth it. My only complaint is about the techs that get...

    Cheap, small, light netbook?

I have a client with an S10-2, and she really seems to love it. No problems that I've heard. There's a big difference between a real notebook and one of these netbooks. I'm talking both size and performance. If there's something that you need performance-wise that the size doesn't make-up...

    Affordable graphics cards

Where is nVidia on this? I'd never buy them, but I need their products to drive down prices. The 5xxx series card prices just aren't dropping as they age, and probably won't until the 6xxx come out from ATI, err, AMD.

    Intel smoke & mirrors

What's crazy is that people don't get this. For the grant shendig, our laptop processor options happen to be 620m, 540m, and 520m. The IT guy is so confused why we would rather have SSDs than the 620m.

    Leverage Your Nothing

The whole thing is a little irregular, in my opinion. So, the reason we have to go though the department for this equipment is because this is how they're cost-sharing on the grant. As I understand it, there's nothing unusual about that. What's weird is that we're not just going to a catalog...

    Tracking down the time.

All NT-based OSes keep the time in software after startup. Have you looked at the date and time control panel to see what server it's using? Alternately, you can use net time through a console, but I'm pretty rusty on some of the appropriate commands.

This Is Why We Don't Buy Drives From Newegg

I suspect that the box thing that they had it in actually helped to transmit the force rather than protect the drive from it. I guess anything that dies after 30-days, Newegg doesn't have any idea whether they caused the failure or not.

This Is Why We Don't Buy Drives From Newegg

One might imagine that you get better service from Ingram. Then again, some people get a choice. I've been unable to convince some IT guys to buy custom-configured Thinkpads directly from Lenovo, rather than preconfigured models from CDW. Just because it's cheaper, faster, and better doesn't...
