The problem here is that I have nothing to move it to, unfortunately -- didn't have the money to spring for a backup solution, and when I did I had more important stuff to deal with. Like I said, the stuff that's really important is on my OneDrive (not a perfect solution either, but I trust...

In other news, my hard drive is failing. Yes, the 2TB one I just bought a few months ago. SMART says all the attributes are either in the "old age" or "pre-failure" state. And what makes me think it's right is that after leaving it on long enough, I get I/O errors. No backups, either, nor do I...

Got woken up by an emergency alert, an Amber Alert from Tennessee. I had my phone set to silent except for my alarm, and the tone used for emergencies is rather spooky if you're half asleep and don't know what the tone is for. So, despite the fact that for the first time in a while I'd gone to...

I use uBlock Origin and I don't think I've had a single website flat-out refuse to serve me in a few years now. Obviously I've only switched to uBlock recently, though. It tends to be lighter than Adblock or Adblock Plus/Edge.

    8k TVs and Monitors

Why would you need such a high resolution on such a small display? I figured 27" to be on the small side just for 4k! The pixel density must be mind boggling. Meanwhile I just upgraded to a 21" 1080p panel for a secondary monitor just a couple months ago.

Absolutely, I should elaborate on what I meant -- I'm not saying they should stop the telemetry altogether, just be more transparent about what they're doing and offer easier ways of opting out.

It's my personal opinion that MS really needs to start backpedaling on some of the decisions they've made, telemetry and draconian update policies chief among them. Meanwhile my group policies seem to be holding firm. Thankfully. But I also only have one Windows machine to administer right now...

So I was looking up how to clean my trackpoint cap as it was getting rather grungy, and the option that seemed to show up the most was toothbrush+toothpaste. Worked like a charm, though it's still discolored -- I don't think I can fix that, though. I've also heard you're supposed to change...

    iPhone syndrome

I personally think it would be an interesting thing to see, only Apple would have the necessary clout to force people onto a new architecture (since they did so not once, but twice, even a third time if you count the 32-bit support cutoff) and in turn it might bring about a second try at doing...

Civ VI looks like it's shaping up to be a good one as always, unfortunately as usual nothing I have will run it satisfactorily. Emphasis mine. I think it'd run, or at least I'd be able to coax it to run at minimum settings, but it wouldn't be any fun. Looks like I'm sticking to Civ 5 for the...

I would think the HD series has the grunt necessary to drive a 2-4K panel as long as you're not trying to game on it. But then, I've never had a 4K display and I'm not likely to get one this decade either.

Also, it's finally happened, I'm using more than half of my 2TB drive. If you told me even three years ago that I'd somehow find a way to use even 1TB I'd laugh. At the time I couldn't even fill a 250GB drive halfway. And that was basically my only storage medium at the time, too.

Ech. On my T450 I've switched back to Chrome from Vivaldi because it uses far, far FAR, far too much RAM (6GB for only ~30 tabs) and the UI has gotten so slow it makes Windows 95 on a 386SX look speedy by comparison. I like the tab stacking but I don't like it enough to deal with that nonsense...

I personally defer to you on this one, on paper it sounds like there's no real downside to making the move. What concerns me is the topics left from years past, would it wipe out all of it or would it all be kept? Sorry if that's a dumb question, forum software isn't exactly my forte.
