Turns out the problem I had with my board where I couldn't do dual-channel was due to a CPU mis-seating. How it worked as it was I don't know, but I corrected the problem and am now running in dual-channel.

I can always put on more layers to cope with the cold, I can't so easily do the opposite to cope with overly hot days. That said, I have a very narrow range of temperatures I'm very comfortable in, ~30F to ~85F. And with my genetics and weight I start sweating bullets standing still at around 60F.

The latest stable (in fact, the one they *recommend*) is 18.5.1. Latest "optional" is 18.7.1 at the time of writing. I am stuck on 17.3.3.

On the subject of PIO, for the longest time the Win98 machines I would set up would have awful IO performance compared to XP on the same machines because I didn't know what DMA was, so never enabled it. These days I know better. Until I forget. :joker:

It was my understanding that it was about on par with Haswell in terms of IPC, which is concerning as far as Intel is concerned because this means AMD is going to eat their lunch in a bad way.
