    Quantum 10GB IDE... curious development

I'm pretty sure I've got 10GB ST-310211A floating around, as well as some Connor of unknown size. Might have a 34GXP, though could be a 60. It's 30GB anyhoo. Interested in a Fireball SE or ST? Fujitsu 10GB? Meh, I'll see what I've got floating around Tony. Give me until the weekend though

    Strange

Not a dislike, I just recognise the limitations. And also, the "one size fits all" was a literary exaggeration to illustrate a point. People who have a barrow to push tout "cloud computing" to those that don't understand the limitations and implications of software as a service. Then those...

    question Mobile Phones

Based upon reading this thread (and quite a number of others) I went out and got a HTC Incredible S. My previous two Samsung phones gave less than stellar service :( This is my first smart phone so we'll see how it goes. I love the ease of use. And tethering. And being able to seen the...

    Strange

Yes it probably does. But is it right for the business? Personally, I'm sick to death of hearing about how the cloud will revolutionise everything. It won't. For some it will work well, for others it won't. This cloud mantra is being pushed by those with something to gain. Or by some lower...

    Best movie you've seen

For sure. I don't take a film such as POTC as anything more than pure, light entertainment. It's just as far as those types of movies go, I rank these ones pretty highly: Iron Man The Mummy POTC: The Curse of the Black Pearl The Bourne Identity V for Vendetta But like POTC 2 & 3, POTC 4 just...

    Best movie you've seen

Saw POTC:On Stranger Tides. Meh... Wasn't bad, wasn't good. 2-and-a-half hours run time, and it didn't seem that long, so maybe slightly above average, but definitely not as good as the first (IMO, the best) or The Mummy.

I've always found that low latencies (memory) help with folding. You can get that by manually setting Tcas Tras Trc etc, or, if the memory controller/BIOS supports it, by using DDR3 1333 or 1600, instead of 1066. I don't think I've ever received other than a 6900 (??) unit.

I think DeltaCopy's "Server" and "Client" is just the terms they use to make the concepts more accessible to Windows users. They are a bit "slow" after all ;) Could be wrong about that though--about DeltaCopy's doco that is :D My understanding is that the Server is the source and Client is...

    Best movie you've seen

O.K. Resurrecting this thread 'cause some people don't like this stuff in the gaming thread :). Just messin' wit' ya! I really don't want to visit a country that's going to take my fingerprints just because I'm visiting... FWIW, I'm not against having my fingerprints taker per se, I used to hold a poker (gaming, slot) machine clearance license which required that I had my prints taken. But that was a...

    Samsung F3, F3EG firmware for P67, SB850 chipsets

Got a Samsung F3 or F3EG HDD? Hear it "clicking" after connecting to the latest Intel or AMD chipsets? In my case. it was a slow (every second) click like a full seek. Eventually the drive disappears from your OS. Warning! If you leave a drive unpatched and connected to a chipset that causes...

    Sandy Bridge problems

Because the story Intel told coincided with a financial analyst day, and it seems to have been designed to assuage them. If the the failure rate was as low as Intel claimed, then I'd be surprised that they caught it in their accelerated testing so soon. If the failure rate was high enough to...

Are there any Issues with Lenovo B560?

Hmmm. My son is starting to hog my PC more than I do, so I grabbbed a few leftover parts and whipped together an Athlon 64 3400+ (754). Boots from a Raptor (1st gen) and uses an X1650 Pro for graphics. 2GB RAM. I use Avast! for antivirus as it seems to be the most lightweight of Avira/Avast...

Are there any Issues with Lenovo B560?

Is it meant to be a truly portable device? I've been carting a Dell 15.6"/3.0kg around, and comparing it to a 2.1kg/14" HP. The difference in portability is remarkable. The Dell is just too bulky to be truly portable. My next notebook will be a 14" or 13.3" that is hopefully even...

Friends don't let friends buy Seagate. I only ever had three 7200.8. All died with a slow clicking (full seek?) noise within the warranty period. SMART and Seatools report no error, but Seagate acknowledge the problem as performance goes in the toilet, and will replace the drive. The catch...
