When is a wide screen monitor too wide?

I see a number of workers with two 16:9 monitors, one horizontal and one vertical.
The ultrawides are for the videogames from the looks of it.

When I upgrade, I'm really going to miss the 16:10 ratio on my current monitor....

I was considering a pair of these in a vertical arrangement. Then I just got a 4k TV.
