Oh, very tempting. I'd imagine the additional mass attached directly to the drives would also help reduce vibrations/noise

Your "PC" would be the size of a refrigerator.

I'm considering water cooling because of the space considerations. In order to have 11 (soon 12) hard drives cooled quietly, there needs to be a lot of space around them. Just the hard drive compartment of my chassis is the size of a NSK2400, and the drives are still over 50C and too noisy.

If I could stack them on top of each other, and insulate the whole thing for noise, I would save space.
