Out of around 15 Dell Precision workstations (470 and 370), 4 of them have had a failed 250GB SATA version of the above. Within a year of purchase. Of course they are worked pretty hard, but it's difficult to go SCSI when you need large capacity. Surely Dell must be losing money next daying us all the replacements?
It doesn't help that Dell are still selling this shit, with nothing else in the 250GB class. Now we are looking at the 160GB SATA(2?) with NCQ, hopefully it's a more reliable model. Or what I'm pushing which is a 73GB 10K SCSI option, and upload to network frequently.
