Slightly old news, but, Plextor is finally filling the retail channel with their 16x SATA DVD±R/±RW (and CD-R/W) drive, which is also Dual Layer DVD capable. Still no word on the LiteON SATA CD-R/W drive that was to have been released about 3 months ago.

It'll be nice to get the last (rounded) ribbon cable out of my chassis.

I've heard that it uses a bridge chip. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I'd be interested to know if there are compatability issues with controllers.

If I can plug one of these into the native SATA plug on a nForce3 mobo and install XP Pro to a SATA hard drive on the other channel without drivers, SATA will finally have arrived.
