Was out today to visit Mystic Aquarium in CT. I thought today would turn out to be cloudy with rain but it was the exact opposite. So Laura and I went for a drive to CT to visit some marine life. We took almost 100 pictures, so I'd like to share a few of them with you. :)

The lighting conditions were tough, and most of the pictures were taken through thick glass for the obvious reason to keep water in a tank. I did manage to get a few outdoor shots with decent lighting.

The pictures are large to show detail. The ones I've posted are all setup to be used as a desktop image at 1280 X 960 so modem users beware. :)

(This is home to the beluga whales. This outdoor tank holds 750,000 gallons of 50 degree F water for the whales and a few harbor seals.)

Those pictures are really nice Handruin! I might rotate in the pictures of the fishies for my desktop. The colors are pretty amazing.

It's been ages since I've been to an aquarium. :(

I've got to visit Baltimore again.

Those are great pictures, especially for low light. Which camera model is it? I haven't been to Mystic in about 15 years, and I barely remember it. It's probably changes a lot since then.

It's a Sony DSC-F707. There was a span where I had not gone for at least 10 years to mystic aquarium. I was pleasantly surprised by the new changes, some of which are the Alaskan coast with the baluga whales. They also have some new attractions inside.

I don't how far of a drive it is for you, but for me it only takes a little over an hour to get there. So I don't mind going from time to time. Laura and I went for a 5-year anniversary. (The camera was actually a gift to each other for five years.)

According to their website, it's about 2 1/2 hours from NYC, so it would be an additional 15-20 minutes from where I live (a little on the long side for a day trip). NJ has an aquarium in Camden that opened up a few years ago, and is supposed to be fairly good. That one is only about 80 miles away, so it's not such a long drive.
BTW, congratulations on your anniversary. It's been about that long since I've even had a relationship.

It's fun to take pictures. Like many things in my life, I'd like to get better at it! Nature is always fun to take pictures of. It's rather easy at mystic since they are contained to a small area.

I have some more pics and video, I'll post them later this week if you guys are interested.

NRG, on A side note, I still have to setup an FTP share for those car videos, I forgot, but just remembered. ;)

Yes, nature is fun to take pictures of. Especially, yellow fin tuna. It tastes great with a squeeze of lemon. :mrgrn:
