unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
???

You have a law preventing criminal to use a motor vehicule during their crime? I fail to see how a robber who flee in a car is worst than another who flee on foot. If he drives his vehicule like a mad, then yes, but here we have laws for dangerous driving violations. Charging someone just for driving, whatever he did before, is beyond me.

nevermind.

I believe "unlawful use of a motor vehicle" refers to stealing one, Coug. As opposed to borrowing it with the owner's consent. :)

I understand that it has the odd name - "unlawful use" because if you call it "stealing" people can say "Oh no, Your Worship, I wasn't stealing it, I was just borrowing it to drive to Alice Springs. I was going to bring it back. Honest."
