I'm trying to figure out was is wrong with my girlfriend's laptop.
It's a Dell Inspiron 6000, about 3 years old.
It was working fine until a couple days ago. Then it simply stopped turning on. There is a green LED on the power adapter and when I plug it into the adapter the green light immediately turns off. I tried another adapter, which exhibits the same behavior. So, I'm pretty sure I can rule out the adapter being faulty. I have tried pulling out the battery and connecting it, but this results in the same thing. I have not opened it up yet to see if there is some kind of noticeable electrical short, but I guess this is what I will do next, unless someone has a better idea.
It's way out of warranty, so that option is out too. Any other ideas or things to try?
When she bought it I told her not to buy a Dell, but that's what her school recommended so she bought it anyways, but I guess that's another story.
