On those slower rip speeds, that's why I mentioned that AACS rip speed limitation I see mentioned here and there and you really have to dig to find it. I don't know why that is. I'm just happy to gain the speed I did using the external ISO program to do the ripping.

I don't know why on the fragmentation thing, I just developed certain habits to avoid to keep things clean. I just ripped the sopranos box set (legit one!) using both drives copying to a 300gb raptor which worked just fine and quick. But then I noticed the file copy over to the home server took quite a bit longer than normal and I could hear that thing thrashing big time.

Ah well could be worse, I just learned the dune player has a bug with some anydvdhd created ISO files, solution is to rip to file mode then bundle that back into an ISO. Network and server will be getting a workout for the next couple days!

Got it. Stuck it in an external enclosure. Connected it via eSATA. Both AnyDVD and ImgBurn are showing the same ~10MB/sec speed for Angels and Demons. Not the speed I was looking for :(

" New (DVD): Added workaround to AnyDVD ripper for "Angel &
Demons (rental)", Japan"

Seems to be that is a problem title. Check in the release notes posted by Handurin, and, that's one of the issues that is supposed to be addressed.

Yeah there were people all over complaining about Star Trek in BD with anydvdhd, think it is fixed now though. I avoided it and went DVD for that one.

Oh joy, in trying to get the my movies dune index folder to work and my movies deleted 10 TB worth of movies.

I guess I will be putting a hurting on my GGC-H20L this weekend, least that speed tip on using imgburn with anydvdhd will work out big time.

Ouch. I'm still in the process of re-ripping all my movies as well. My previous technique of taking just the movie and re-encoding it was great when storage was expensive, but now it isn't, and my wife likes the other features (making of, etc). So re-ripping everything.

I presently have a pair of BR drives and a pair of DVD drives running full time ;)

Noticed recently that anydvd 6642 and now 6646 both rip straight to iso faster than older versions. 6646 now shows a speed in addition to the time on the rip window too, not sure when they added that but now my same drive usually gets a BD disk ripped in under an hour. anydvd really seems to be worth the price, they seem to keep ahead of the curve really well.

Apparently the drive is riplocked. I just picked up a 10x LG CH10LS20 tonight.

It didn't rip any faster than my LG GGC-H20L. Did a little research and found out the drive is riplocked. Ripped the firmware from the drive, patched it to remove the riplock, and flash the patched firmware back to the drive.

I patched the firmware on my drive too but didn't see a difference on bluray, but in DVD the thing flys now.

Mine is definitely faster on Blu-Rays though I've only ripped one disc so far after patching it and it got up to 7.4x and was climbing before my server decided it needed to slow down the data transfer for some reason. I haven't tried ripping a DVD in it yet.

I was talking about the GGC-H20L, I never got a faster drive. Most of my blurays rip in about 45 minutes it seems now but I think that's just the best the drive can do.

Oh, I didn't attempt to patch my GGC-H20L. The 10x CH10LS20 seems like a ripping monster once you remove the lock. I missed out on the $49.99 sale Newegg had on it, but Microcenter has 'em for $59.99.

$23.99/mo now for 3 at a time plus bluray. I think it's time to quit for a couple months again as most of my queue is very long wait or delayed release.

I am omnipresent
I've been on 8 DVDs at a time since 1999. At one time that plan was just $45 a month. Now it's closer to $70.

Good lord, I can't even think of what I would do with all that. My queue is nearly empty for stuff that is available now, I browse around and look at the suggestions and I can't really find much I want to see. The saved queue for unreleased stuff is huge though.
