    I can too. I had a 512MB PC2700 DIMM go bad a while ago.

    The end of the CD/DVD???

I really don't think that will happen in the next decade (maybe longer) as a CD or DVD can be produced for well under $1. OTOH, flash memory is probably about 1000 times more expensive. It would not make sense for Microsoft to release the version of Windows on a USB flash stick. It would be far...

    Nero 7

How large was your installation? I can't remember the version that I recently installed at home, but if I would have installed all the options it looked like it would have taken up about 700MB. I don't really think I need all those extra programs that Nero now includes. I install it for the...

    Inexpensive laptops.

I definitely agree that IBM T series laptops are the way to go. I have repaired laptops before and all were a major PITA except for IBM. I actually have a Dell Latitude D600 through work. It really isn't all that bad. It is kind of flimsy feeling, but I am careful with it and it would have...

That is a pretty obscure reference and took me a few minutes to get it. But, generally the references I come up with are just as obscure. http://www.snpp.com/episodes/BABF20 I generally watch a few Simpsons episodes a week. I go in spurts though. This episode is season 12 which i normally...

    Guestbook

Well I ended up installing the script that I mentioned above. I got it completely customized so that it looks like the rest of of the site. You can check it out, but I wouldn't look at any of the content unless you want your eyes to pop out of your head. (No pornography or anything, mainly...

    Guestbook

I have a personal website that I want to have a guestbook on. This is normally simple, but I want the guestbook to be integrated into the design so that it looks like the rest of the site. The site is pretty simple (uses CSS). So, does anyone have any experience with any of the different free...

    Domain name, email for family

BTW I just checked out Lunarpages and it is $8/month for their cheapest plan if you pay for an entire year ($96). But, they also give you a free domain name. 1GB of storage with option to get it increased to 3GB and 100GB transfer per month.

I have sold some books on eBay. After you have a username set up just find a similar auction and copy what they said. Not too difficult.

I use www.godaddy.com for domain registration. I have heard good things about www.lunarpages.com for hosting. One of my friends uses them and they have worked fine. Pretty cheap too.

    Why Windows Causes Stupidity

I haven't had any of these issues. All of the applications that i have wanted to use install just fine. I can make a list if anyone wants to know. And I can install something to see if it works for someone, as long as it is not spyware infested. I did have a bit of a problem getting ATI's...

    Why Windows Causes Stupidity

I'm not a big fan of XP. I am running Windows 2003 Server and unless you set it up to be a server, then it really does not act like a server OS anymore than 2000 or XP does. I would suggest 2003, but I'm sure some people will disagree with me.
  25. timwhit

    Why Windows Causes Stupidity

jtr, you are still running Windows 98, correct? Give Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 a try, they will probably take care of many of the problems you encounter with your OS.

Chicago is the same way. I especially like the racing bus driver. I was on a racing bus just last week. The driver was literally going 60mph in a 25mph zone and not even stopping to pick up people at stops. I saw one guy waving his briefcase in the air, but the bus driver still didn't stop...

LimeWire, Morpheus, eMule, eDonkey, which one?

Azureus is not too quick with the downloading either. From my tests of different clients BitTornado is the best. It still uses quite a bit of memory, but at least you will get your download finished faster.

    New camera: Canon 20D?

It looks legit to me. Did you notice that shipping is $25? I have bought from eBay many times without much of a problem. I have sold a few hundred items as well. It is not as unsafe as many people would lead you to believe.

I searched, but couldn't find anything with that many internal drive bays. The Lian-Li case looks nice. You should buy it and then let the rest of us know if it is nice.
