    Tesltra Big Pong

Your math was correct. There is an error: 7Kb divided by 1024 equals 0.006836 (you wrote 0.006336). However, I think that was a typo, because 300MB limit divided by 0.006836 equals the value you arrived at: 43,885. No need to quibble for typos, the verdict is nonetheless the same. PS: I was...

    Tesltra Big Pong

Sorry, I have no experience with Telstra, but this is a great thread with great knowledge being dispersed. I'd love to complain about my ISP, but it seems irrelavent after seeing the Oz nightmares. BR

    What is the second-best 40GB 7200?

My personal experience has been good with the WD400BB families (20 GB - 40 GB per platter). No failures yet. I've been interested in trying the Samsung 7,200 rpm flavor. BR

    OT: Apology to China

SMART failure on a dumb drive

What version of WDDIAG did you run? What is the Model number on the drive? BR PS - Protege drives are at a premium since they are in half of the Microsoft XBOX consoles.

SMART failure on a dumb drive

Tannin, Good of you to help your customer. Personally, I would not have used a Protege drive, as it is my least favorite "new" drive, save the U series. Didn't WD DIAG return a four digit code? BR

    Epox vs Soltek

Soltek, Epox, Elitegroup O my! As of late, they have all proven reliable, stable, and cost effective for me. The SL-75DRV2 has been very enjoyable to use as a Socket-A solution. The ECS D6VAA has been very cost effective and stable as a dual PIII solution. For a bottom-of-the-barrel...
