I just installed one of these and they're pretty nice. Two minor gripes, the ATA connectors are bit low on the board, but the cables still reach in my standard cases. The audio connector is also low on the board, but again, the audio cable still reaches with my standard cable. Of course I...

    Infomercial for Prescott

Nope, sorry Merc, I don't. Maybe if I saw it, my memory would be refreshed. Although I must admit, I personally didn't begin using Windows 95 until mid-1997; 3.1x worked fine for me on my Leading Edge system.

    Apple 30" Cinema Display

No kidding. I had assumed that they would use everything Mac. I had a G4 open the other day, nicely organized machine. Panther is pretty decent too. Something that just clicked the other day, is that now, when OSX burps, you could easily end up at a command prompt. An interesting issue that...

[NEWS] - Nvidia goes for Nforce 4

Although I agree that ALI chipsets don't age well, I have always had this strange liking for Asus P5A-B boards. Those little AT Socket7 boards seemed to defy all laws of chipset common sense. Drop in a handy AMD chip, an Xpert98 or 2000 ATI video card, and those babies hummed like magic. Oh...

[NEWS] - Nvidia goes for Nforce 4

I really haven't used much of the nForceII, except for four audio recording systems I assembled, and they were coupled with Mushkin memory (they have been trouble free running RedHat 8.0). However, I have sold many nForceI boards mixed with Kingston and Memory Man RAM -- always troublefree. As...

Tea et al, with the VIA motherboards you sell, have any of them used the VIA 6103L LAN Chip? What sort of performance do you see from this chip? I was planning on purchasing some Gigabyte 7VT600-RZ boards.

Getting Hard Drives out of Computers...

Interesting thread. It makes me wonder if cmkrnl and KOOLER work together - cmkrnl knowing about StorageReview and its forum as a longtime member, and KOOLER as the entrepreneur. Of course, that's just my paranoid disposition.

Article at SR about TCQ vs SCSI vs non-TCQ SATA.

Pacific Digital makes cards that do a nice job supporting the TCQ feature on the WD740GD. PDF By the way, not all Promise cards use Promise chips, some use Marvell ICs.

From what I've heard, the ICH6 will support NCQ, but not TCQ.

Although USB NICs are nice because they offer placement flexibility, you can also purchase PCI NICs with long antennas that allow for the same flexibility. Such as this or this this.

skinny cows low fat ice cream

In pain. I was running 2 miles every couple of days, and the pain just became to great, so I've been resting them for over a week. I think it is time to get them limber again and start jogging again.

skinny cows low fat ice cream

Yup. It is a very simple equation, if you take in more calories then you burn, you'll gain weight. I once used a calorie-counting diet, and it worked remarkably well. Although, it should be noted, that the items you eat should be healthy (e.g. low in fat and sugar) -- but that is obvious too...

skinny cows low fat ice cream

Fushigi, The problem with a low-carb diet is the same that exists with other legitimate dietary changes -- people misapply the treatment. The craze was having a 'low fat' diet. Many people didn't just trim out the fat, they began indulging in a high carbohydrate diet. Look at all of the...

    Budget graphics cards

I can get them for less, but they're still expensive. I end up selling the 32MB AGP 4x version for $100.00. The PCI version costs more, and then there is the 16MB AGP 4x version, which I could sell for $80.00 if I wanted to (I'd rather sell a really nice ATI card for that price). (Of course...

Yes, price does make a difference. The 128MB Sapphire ATI 9600 is quite a bit less then a P650 with 64MB of memory. Interestingly, my disti has almost 300 G550 32MB Matrox cards instock, and it is not as if they are old inventory, about two weeks ago they had zero. I just wish they would sell...

Suggestions for hooking up cable internet

My first choice for a home network would be one of those small purpose-built boxes that Blakerboy mentioned. Looking at most of the new homes being built around me, the cable connection (most people are using Cable) is in a closet. It is real handy when you can hook up a cable modem and the...
