Way too much money IMHO. $250 for the Auzentech... I'll just wait one more generation for nVidia to add bitstreaming to their video cards. My GF9300 IGP is doing fine for now.
By the way, the "Mortgage Meltdown" was cause by lending money to people who shouldn't have gotten the loans in the first place because they were unqualified. Canada didn't / doesn't do this, and unsurprisingly they haven't had any of the same problems the US and other places have.
No wonder you're so cranky with a 10 year old system. :o
A more prudent strategy would be buying lower end systems and upgrading much more frequently, but I'm sure you've been told that before.
The ATI integrated solutions suck.
1) They're unable to parse EDID correctly and there is no workaround for XP.
2) It can't do 5.1 or 7.1 LPCM or bitstreaming the new codecs.
Michigan is #13 on the list, so it's not exactly like we're a cheap state... Our deductible is $500. Every time I've priced insurance cranking up the deductible barely reduces the rates.
I had full collision on two cars about $1300 a year. I've subsequently dropped it from one of the cars. You guys must be considered high risk or something.
It had to do with the characteristic sound of a horn (which isn't really a characteristic of a well designed horn, but more the way Klipsch designed them to sound). If you're talking about Klipsch PC speakers I'm not sure they have the real Klipsch characteristic sound.
Klipsch actually made...
Put on the pants and get what you want. ;)
The short version is that In wall speakers basically suck unless you spend a lot of money on high end (read expensive / well out of your budget) in wall speakers. Here's an example of a decent in walls.
The ISO6400 samples in the gallery at dpreview look pretty good if you ask me. I scanned some Kodak ISO400 color print film at 4000DPI the other day. It had way more noise than any recent DSLR does at ISO1600.
We're spoiled by digital.
The 7D already has 18MP with the same sensor size, so I'm not sure how big of a deal this is. Granted I'd tend to think they're going in the wrong direction though.
I guess that's depends on your definition of "decent". :p
Are you really trying to get a subwoofer along with 5 speakers for $750-$1k? The 7 speakers I want for my basement HT are $13.5k (excluding subwoofers).
What are you talking about? Doesn't PowerDVD have an option to show playback information? Arcsoft does. You right click on image while it's playing and pick Information and then it tells you the video codec, bitrate, and sound format.
That's just how Linux works. The swap partition has a different file system. However, unlike Windows, it seems that Linux doesn't actually use the swap area unless it runs out of RAM. I've yet to see my little server use any of it. Swap usage is always shown as 0 when I've checked it.
I'm not sure exactly how I'd put a hardware RAID card in a mini-ITX system with only a mini PCIe expansion slot, but if you figure it out. Let me know. :geek:
Hey, I like my 63 character WPA2 key. :p
This is the first time I've had a problem with any device not accepting it. I've used it on about 7 PCs (all running Windows). Since this Linux box isn't going to sit on on my network long term it doesn't really matter. I'll plug it in while I get it...
Well, I'm not entirely sure what the problem was / is. It doesn't like a 63 character key, but a 62 character key (with the last letter removed) works fine. I doesn't even look like it attempts to connect with a 63 character key. With shorter key it's got a little animated icon that runs...
I tried using WEP and it worked fine. I also tried WPA with no luck.
I'm using AES. I also tried TKIP with no change.
However, I took Merc's advice and tried a shorter key of mytestkey and it worked fine.
So I got my Intel 5100 Wireless LAN card tonight. I put it in my Atom330 / ION Mini-ITX system. I followed the guide on the 5100 and starting the NetworkManager Service.
Unfortunately, I can't connect to my wireless network. I can see my network as well as my neighbors', but I can't connect...
Yes, that's a good one. The "touch of color" is a slight coloring of the dark bezel. If you shine a bright light directly on it you'll see it's reddish. No it can't be disabled. As a point of reference I can't even see it on my Samsung under the normal lighting in the room.
