I don't know. You would have to try it. It was not happy when I tried to include the i686 and x64 version of Clonzilla on the same image. It generated an error on the second instance and omitted it. The program is very new so more functionality could be right around the corner.
This has to be one of the coolest utilities I've come across. XBoot
It lets you combine several bootable ISO's together. It's similar to MultiCD, but it runs in Windows.
It even lets you test / preview the resulting disk & menus in a built in lite VM.
I used it to make a combined Clonezilla...
Do all you really spend that much time sitting on the throne that you need something else to do in the bathroom like a laptop, TV, or iPad? I'm not sitting there long enough to read, surf, or otherwise get any other activity done.
Some of that would be possible in theory. The problem is there are other devices plugged into the router that need unfettered internet access, so there's some limit to what I can do, since I don't want a constant VPN connection between the routers or similar strategies that might otherwise be...
I saw it, momentarily considered it, and rapidly reconsidered. I had my fill of Atom like laptop performance with the netbook I tried. Something in that form factor with a ULV Sandy Bridge similar to the CULV Core2Duo stuff some makers offered (ala Acer Timeline 1810T) would be very appealing.
I don't plan to move gigabytes of stuff. The initial backup would be done with the remote system on my LAN. I would expect the nightly backup to be fairly small (<100MB/night). I don't plan to back up everything. Mostly just documents & photos. No audio or video files.
If I need to restore...
I'm not sure this is actually true. WoL triggered from the remote router can be used to wake the remote box. The remote box can power up and create the on demand PPPoE connection. The remote router can be set to automatically register it's WAN side IP with dyndns or similar. Once this has...
The dirty little secret is that as flash process shrinks the number of times you can reprogram the chip drops. So, as it gets faster and cheaper it also gets less reliable / durable.
That plan sounds like a disaster since you would have to upload a new full backup every night which is totally not feasible. Also, I don't know if you've ever tried to compress a pile of files and encrypt them before, but it's not a fast process.
Last year I had the idea to build a remote rsync target. It never saw the light of day. :(
I never spent the time to get it fully working mainly due to the complexity of my desire to use whole disc encryption in Linux which meant the system needed a password fed to it in order to decrypt the...
I'm not sure I'd be in a big hurry to get one. At this point the motherboards are all so new that you're basically guessing which ones are decent.
Not to mention I'm sure Microcenter will be running this promotion for a long time. They sold the Q6600 for $199.99 for a long time.
I saw several comments along the same lines in the reviews of several of the devices over at Newegg. Maybe that's a better idea since I could use a low cost B&W networked laser instead.
I'm interested in a Network Printer Server for my printer. The printer is USB and I would prefer wired RJ45 ethernet. I see Newegg sells 21 devices that fit my requirements ranging in price from ~$40 to >$320.
Has anyone tried a Network Print Server and have any suggestions / advice?
Some receivers (not sure about the 608) will let you duplicate the Front L & R to the 6th and 7th channel, so you can send the same signal out twice, run 4 wires to your speakers and power the woofer and tweeter separately. This requires the speakers have two separate crossovers.
The benefit...
I couldn't find an answer to this question anywhere on the web so I'm putting it here.
You can fit a 12.5mm thick 2.5" HD in one of the two 2.5" "bays" in the Antec ISK 300. As you can see in the picture below it sits just a touch below the metal edge of the case. The cover slid onto the case...
Yeah, I've seen the WD "now with USB 3.0" for $99.99 at Costco. However, none of my PCs have USB 3.0. :-?
All of my non-laptops have eSATA though. :cooler:
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.
I'm able to power / connect to it from a single USB port with a 1TB Samsung drive in it if I want to use it via USB. For eSATA you can use the same single USB mini connector (being used just for power) + an eSATA cable. You don't have to use...
Well, it looks like you can get a 12.5mm thick 2.5" drive in one of the two 2.5" bays" in the Antec ISK 300. The other has a steel flange over it that will definitely stop a 12.5mm drive from fitting unless you cut off the flange or otherwise get it out of the way.
I bought a 2.5" eSATA / USB 2.0 enclosure specifically to hold mine. There aren't very many 2.5" eSATA / USB 2.0 enclosures that will hold a 12.5mm drive.
:skepo: I'm sure they couldn't possibly have an interest in your CPU not lasting as long as it could given that they make their money selling chips.
So apparently no one has ever tried to put a 12.5mm thick 2.5" laptop drive in an Antec ISK-300 case before. I tried all my Google skills and couldn't find a definitive answer. I found a few other people seeking the answer to the same question, and people thinking that one might fit, and...
I had one for a short while after someone else created one with my e-mail address. I was able to take over the account via requesting a password reset and then shut it down and have it deleted.
I also don't answer the door either unless I know someone is coming over (ie: was invited). On top of that I typically don't answer the phone unless I recognize the number.
I read the review, but I'm not sure why someone would buy a motherboard with the new chipset for a last generation CPU. Aside from faster USB 3.0 performance I didn't see a big improvement.
The way I figure it, it's simple... If someone only wants to communicate with me via facebook, twitter, or text messages then I figure I don't need to communicate with them.
Well the 16GB arrived yesterday. I installed it into the machine this morning. The machine POSTed with the memory (always a good sign), and is currently running Memtest86+ while I'm at work.
A watt is a watt is a watt. The topology differences have slight theoretical differences, but you're not likely to hear them in a properly designed amp.
Yeah, the thought would be to get an amplifier with lots of clean power output so it's loafing along even when you have your system cranked...
