    Something Random

Sorry, it was the wrong forum. It has been a very long day and I'm a worn out wreck. After a rough week at work I've been dealing with a friend having a crisis for the past 6+ hours. :( I'm not yet recovered from three incidents in the last week or so - blood in three body parts that should not...

Normally the rear should include a glass filter. It is expected as part of the optical design.

Apparently the egg is doing orders/fullfilment for some rather dubious companies now. It is very annoying at the least. :(

You don't get it. 85mm is 85mm. The crop discards 62% of the area but does not change the focal length.

It is a lens for large aperture portraiture and similar on FF. I haven't found much use for the lens and don't own it any longer. I like the 135/2 better.

Yes, the new firmware adds some significant improvments. I thought that was out a while ago, but have not checked as I never plan to us the 7D again. On the downside, it may be that same old camera is not updated from another year. :( Apparently Canon has not found a better sensor supplier...

Voltage regulator or UPS, or both?

That line interactive type of regulator is mainly for generator power or brownout-prone areas. It does not provide clean power like an online UPS. A good line interactive UPS contains the same functionality as the former. All that being said, it is quite possible that the PS on the mainboard...

Voltage regulator or UPS, or both?

Was it a cheap, crappy UPS? What is the voltage regulator are going on about? BTW, wiring from 1965 should not necessarily be bad. I've lived in places older than that in SoCal with no such computer problems. Normally a good quality standby UPS is enough.

YEAH, it was another Androgenic moment.

Voltage regulator or UPS, or both?

You can get a good UPS with a regulated sinewave output if that is what you mean. I've not needed one in the US. Are you running on feberastors or have really dirty power for some reason?

    WD Red

I think we discussed the RED drive in another thread. It is designed for the small NAS market with appropriate firmware and features to mitigate the effects of multiple drive vibrations. The chasis is similar to the Green series. I'm not convinced that they are the best choice outside of the...

I purchased about 8 of the Panasonic DVD recorders over the years and they all (including the combo) play fine on DVD players other than the most ancient ones. Some of the recorders do produce a kind of copy protection that needs to be addressed when accessing the disc in a computer.
