Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

You enable spanning in the video card drivers. Windows sees it as one monitor, but the video card sees it as two.

    Dell PERC 6i failed?

The LSI software doesn't even actively alert you when a single disk fails in a RAID-6 array. :frusty:

Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

I'd be shocked if you couldn't drive it from any video card with two dual link DVI outputs. We did this years ago at work with the IBM WQUXGA T220/T221. Nvidia cards with dual DVI outputs would drive it regardless of resolution limits they supposedly had. The TMDS is limited by frequency and...

Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

You don't have a checkbox to force 1920x1080? Win7 and Vista allow you to override the EDID from your TV anyhow.
  14. S

Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

It has 1920x1080 pixels. You need to find the mode on the TV that gives 1:1 pixel mapping instead of overscan.

How to make a silk purse from a sow's ear?

Sniping is the only way to roll on ebay (unless it's BIN). Any other method of buying will lead you to paying more.

Help with safe, secure storage of video footage

I do. I've got a lot of 10+ year old recordable media that still reads fine. In fact, I'm not sure I have any 10+ year old recordable media that doesn't read. I haven't found any of my old CD-R's that aren't readable (excluding ones that have scratches / gouges from poor treatment). I don't...

Help with safe, secure storage of video footage

question HDD thermal management (keeping your cool)

Regardless, semiconductors run within their spec have incredibly low failure rates. Automotive spec semiconductor products from top tier manufacturers have a ppm failure rate of less than 1. Hard drives have lots of moving components and other things that Arrhenius certainly doesn't apply to...

  32. S

question HDD thermal management (keeping your cool)

Svante Arrhenius would disagree with you. The Arrhenius equation is the backbone of HALT/HASS testing of electrical components. If it's not applicable then all semiconductor lifetimes are incorrectly derived.

Well, I finally got the 8th drive from Newegg this past week and started testing it yesterday. It did a full format with 0 bad sectors and I'm copying some data to it and will put some use to it to make sure it doesn't die prematurely, but I guess between Hitachi & Newegg you have a 37.5%...

Bingo!!! I pulled out the reservoir plug and a fair amount of brake fluid came oozing out. I drained a little extra beyond what came out on it's own to allow for expansion. Even with the bike cool I can tell there's less drag on the rotors and the levers engage after more squeezing. The wife...

    FLAC to MP3

Foobar 2000 can do it with the exception perhaps of making the playlists. It also loses album art while converting (all other tag data is kept). LameXP might also be worth looking at also. I haven't use LameXP though. I use Foobar and add the album art back with another program.
