Per the part list on the documentation it's not supposed to come with one of those. It lists a USB2.0 to USB3.0 adapter which is the Y cable thing that was included.

I didn't get one of those with my USB 3.0 Lian-Li case. I got a Y cable with the USB2.0 header on one end and two female A connectors.

Which is why I won't be doing it. I'm getting a 25% speedup. I'm not so concerned about which part of the change from x86 to x64 is responsible for the speedup.

Yeah, well... You'll have to understand that I'm not planning to install XP x64 and Windows 7 x86 (32-bit), get them all set up, and spend up to 18 hours encoding just to add some additional data points to this comparison. ;-)

Well according to this review the improvement with x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 is pretty negligible (comparing XP 32-bit to Win 7 32-bit).

Are you sure about that? I thought that at first too, but when I looked at the y adapter closer I saw it was for USB 2.0, since it doesn't have the 20 pin header on the end.

I should probably point out that I used a full x64 chain of applications under Windows 7 x64, not just a x64 version of the encoder (which you can't really do anyhow since 32bit apps can't call a x64 app). Under XP I used DGDecNV (2039), AVIsynth 2.58, and x264 (1947). Under Win 7 x64 I used...

Probably no one cares, but H.264 / AVC encoding is quite a bit faster in a 64-bit OS than it is in a 32-bit OS when using x264. In my tests the identical compression job was 25% faster in Win 7 x64 than under Win XP x86. :bomb:

I was able to get unmolested SP1 x64 & x86 ISO's for Windows 7 Home Premium (Retail) from the Bay (confirmed by the SHA1 hash). They can then be turned into any of the other retail flavors with the some modification with the utility I linked to earler (also confirmed by matching SHA1 hashes).

I have 4 USB 3.0 plugs on the top panel of the case. The mobo only supports 2 from the header inside. So, either the other 2 on the top will need to be USB2.0 or I'll have to do that too.

After looking at it closer I realize they didn't include a USB3.0 adapter with the case, but a USB2.0 adapter. :cry:

So, I finally pulled my Lian-Li case out (that has USB3.0 ports). I was disappointed to see it has does not have the proper ends on the cables to plug them into the headers on the motherboard. Instead they've got the standard USB A male plug. And, they only include 1 adapter with the case to...

I added a Dell Perc 5i that I had sitting in my spare parts bin in the basement to my P67A-UD3P to run two 2TB RAID-1 arrays (assuming I can get 4 working drives from Hitachi) since the P67A-UD3P only has 6 SATA ports whereas my P35 and P45 based Gigabyte boards all had 8 onboard SATA ports.

No, I haven't. I could probably replace the cell in it myself too. I hadn't really given that much thought. I'm not sure off the top of my head where to find a good LiPo cell though.
