    SSD RAIDs Revisited

I undersatnd, but did not think it was so critical nowadays. I'd be breaking the array a few times a year when traveling anyway. Unfortunately Intel has no appropriate 1TB drives, so I had to go with the Crucial brand. They don't seem to have any optimization software as Intel or Samsung do.

    SSD RAIDs Revisited

What do you mean cell death? The PSDs don't have TRIM either and I don't know about USB 3.0. I thought the modern drives cleaned themselves up autonomically. Is there some way to manually clean up the drives that does not involve some crappy boot disc and a native port?

    SSD RAIDs Revisited

Tyically I implement a SSD boot drive and a second SSD for certain purposes, such as favorites, Outlook, PTGUI temp files, etc. The rest of my SSDs are in laptops or PSDs. However, with the modestly-priced 1TB SSDs available today, I'm exploring the feasibility of using SSDs in the desktop for...

    LED flashlights

I'm not quite sure what you are doing - is it work related? Normally I use a Fenix TK series light for general use, but there are plenty of other good brands. My rule of thumb is that 10,000cd is about the least throw I'd want in a general light, but some people will accept less. I use a...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Considering the capacity difference, the prices are close enough to be the same. In any event I'd pay somewhat more for a better drive, but I don't see the Samsung as being better.

SSDs - State of the Product?

I think so too, especially outside of computer usage. I'm adding additional Crucial SSDs rather than Samsungs. The 960GB M500 has MLC flash and is cheaper than the 1TB EVO.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Yeah, microSD cards are not so great for performance anyway, not to mention the lack of SDXC support. It would be nice to have a similar device that accepts two UDMA 7 CF cards.

  34. LunarMist

    dSLR thread

There are very few good options, basically the NVS1501 or the 2730. It is expensive and warranty is gone once it is opened to install the 1TB SSD.

    dSLR thread

I'm going mental for memory storage. My 64GB cards don't work in the original UDMA. :cursin: PSDs are practically obsolete in the 2010s, so I'm at a loss for a strategy that won't cost $2.5-$3K or be unmanageable. :(
